Reading Scaffold Plan for Differentiated Instruction Introduction: This is a plan to give individualized help to a student who has trouble with reading. This is a female student who is nine years old and is in fourth grade. She is experiencing trouble with reading comprehension and fluency. The objective of this is to effectively help her in her areas of
weakness and improve her reading ability. This will promote things such as small groups, training, accommodations, and very detailed instructions. Small group introduction: Small-group learning serves as a complementary method to traditional class formats such as case
discussions and lectures. In this approach, students collaborate in small groups consisting of 3 to 6 members. The primary objectives are to foster critical thinking, facilitate the mastery of course concepts, and enable the application of these concepts to real-world scenarios. This collaborative
environment motivates students toward a shared goal, encouraging them to support each other's learning endeavors. To address the needs of reading comprehension identified as a risk for reading difficulties, it is essential to implement focused and intensive small-group interventions.
The duration and intensity of these interventions should be tailored to the level of risk, which is determined through reading assessment data and other relevant indicators. These interventions
must encompass the five core elements of reading: phonological awareness, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Each element plays a crucial role in developing proficient reading skills. Explicit and direct instruction should serve as the primary instructional delivery method within these small-group interventions. This approach ensures clarity and
3
precision in teaching each reading element, maximizing the effectiveness of the instructional process.
By providing targeted and intensive small-group interventions that address the specific needs of students at risk for reading problems, educators can significantly enhance their reading proficiency and overall academic success. Some of the exercises are as follows: turn and talk, three before me, and think-pair-share. Individualized instructions: Individualized instruction is used to address the specific reading abilities that need improvement.
The instructions should be solely tailored to help the specific needs of the student. Specific instructions are as follows: Decoding skills, vocabulary, word knowledge, and comprehension strategies.
Explicit instruction: Explicit instruction entails providing direct guidance to students to help them learn decoding and comprehension techniques. The main goal of the lesson is to improve students' understanding and skill in the subject matter. The instructions should be clear and precise. They should include the following: Direct explanation, teacher modeling, and guided practice and application. Evaluation: Evaluation is used to measure the progress of students and identify areas needing focus. The evaluation should include ongoing formative evaluations to track student progress and identify
