Clay Wagner Professor Allen BIO-120L March 24 2024 Milestone One - A question that I have is how have humans since the industrial revolution, contributed to more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. - This experiment is so important because the rising climate change from CO2 levels is going to impact all aspects of life. - In 2022, the gloabal average for carbon dioxide was 417.06 ppm which was a new record high (Lindsey, 2023). o Carbon dioxide levels have mostly risen due to the use of fossil fuels that humans burn for energy. - Carbon is the second most abundant element in living organisms (Libretexts, 2021). The carbon cycle is a biological process that involves living things. - - Carbon cycles through the atmosphere, biosphere geosphere, and hydrosphere from processes such as photosynthesis, fire, burning of fossil fuels weathering and volcanism University of California Museum of Paleontology (2022). - This experiment will relate to the basics principles of biology by using the scientific method and utilizing subject matter I have learned in this class to make a concise presentation. - People have been tracking that amount of carbon dioxide for many years, so experiments like this have been done that I will be able to reference and fine tune my own.
- Relating the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere to the carbon cycle is how I will include biology topics in this presentation.
