Benchmark Assignment on Ethical Behavior of Business Students – Bo Diddly Tech
Defining the Problem
During the global recession from 2008 to 2009, the dean at Bo Diddley Tech became concerned for the rise in cheating for business students. At this time, a study was done to test any
unethical behavior at Bo Diddley Tech for students who may or may not be cheating. The purpose of this managerial report is to analyze the data of students, both athletes and non-
athletes, who have admitted to cheating on their work. To complete this report, a significant sample size of 100 students was taken to provide the most accurate results. By the end of this study, suggestions could be made to help mitigate the issue of cheating for future students.
Collecting the Data
Collecting the data consisted of obtaining a report of 1440 athlete and non-athlete students at Bo Diddley Tech. After randomizing the data, a sample size of 100 students was taken. This data consisted of athletes who cheated, athletes who did not cheat, non-athletes who cheated, and non-athletes who did not cheat. The data set also considered business students and non-business students since the article from Chronicle of Higher Education
mentioned 56% of business students cheat while 47% of non-business students cheat. Organizing the Data
When organizing this data, a pivot table was created to easily see the relationships between all variables. This pivot table is able to show the exact number of students to cheated or did not cheat and which category they belong in such as a business student is also an athlete, a non-business student who is also an athlete, a business student who is not an athlete, and a non-
business student who is also not an athlete. The grand total of each category is also shown which allows for visualizing the difference in variables. 2

Visualizing the Data
Another way of organizing and visualizing this data set was through a bar graph. In the figure below, data can be shown representing business athlete and non-athlete students as well as
non-business athlete and non-athlete students who have and have not cheated. The blue bar represents the students who did not cheat, and the orange bar represents students who have cheated. The bar allows for the visualization of business students cheating more than non-
business students. Non-business students still cheat, however the bar graph shows a drastic difference in those who cheat compared to those who do not. Bar graphs are essential in analyzing data due to the simplicity in understanding how much more one category may be in 3

The president of a small chain of women’s clothing stores was concerned about a four-year trend of decreasing profits. The stores have been characterized as being rather conservative over the years with respect to their product line, store decor, and advertising. They have consistently avoided trendy clothes, for example. Their market is now becoming extremely competitive because several aggressive fashion stores are expanding and are aiming at the young, fashion-conscious buyer. As a result of this competition and the disappointing profit trend, the president is considering making the product line appear less conservative and more oriented toward the young buyer. Before making such a risky change, the president feels it prudent to conduct some marketing research to learn the exact status of his chain. What should be the research purpose? Compose a set of research questions that would be helpful.

The major competitor is a large national franchise unit that—in addition to its regular foodservice menu of pizzas, salads, soft drinks, and desserts—offers door-to-door delivery. This delivery service is very popular with the university students and has helped the franchise unit capture approximately 40 percent of the student market. The second competitor is a “pizza wagon” that carries precooked pizzas. The driver circles the university area and sells pizzas on a first-come, first-served basis. The pizza wagon starts the evening with 50 pizzas of all varieties and sizes and usually sells 45 of them at full price. The last 5 are sold for whatever they will bring. It generally takes the wagon all evening to sell the 50 pizzas, but the profit markup is much higher than that obtained from the typical pizza sales at the franchise unit. The other competitor offers only in-house services, but it is well known for the quality of its food.

A case study of a young man trying to solve a
chronic environmental problem. Tariq, during his
growing up, saw piles of waste that accumulate in
his neighborhood, which has become a chronic
problem that causes distortion and bad odors in
addition to epidemics and the accumulation of
insects and rodents. The problem was the failure
of the responsible authorities to find a serious
solution to the problem, in addition to the inability
of the cleaning workers to deal with the large
quantities of waste that were discarded daily. This
is in addition to the lack of sufficient awareness
among the people who throw waste, not only
everywhere and outside except for places
designated for this, but also without any attempt
to sort it by type. Tariq felt that there must be a
way to solve this problem permanently or at least
limit its size. He was also convinced that the

civil and non-governmental organizations that

Delta Air Lines and the Exoskeleton
Delta Air Lines is partnering with Sarcos Robotics to explore new employee technology fit for a superhero—a mobile and dexterous exoskeleton designed to boost employees’ physical capabilities and bolster their safety, reports New Equipment Digest (Jan. 15, 2020). Sarcos, the world’s leader in exoskeleton development, has developed a battery-powered, full-body exoskeleton designed to increase human performance and endurance while helping to prevent injury.
This robotic suit, designed for employees to wear, does the heavy lifting. By bearing the weight of the suit and the payload, the exoskeleton may enable an employee to lift up to 200 pounds repeatedly for 8 hours at a time without strain or fatigue. The Sancos model is designed for use in industries where lifting and manipulation of heavy materials or awkward objects are required and aren’t easily handled by standard lift equipment. (This is a topic we discuss in the Ergonomics section of Chapter…

Read the following fact pattern and answer the questions that follow:
Globe Life Insurance Company has undertaken a new sales program that targets neighborhoods in Los Angeles where drive-by shootings were a nightly occurrence. Two such shootings occurred in which children were killed as they sat in their living rooms. Globe salespeople were instructed to "hit" the houses surrounding those where children were victims. They were also told to contact the parents of those children to sell policies for their other children. Tom Raskin, an experienced Globe salesman, read of a drive-by shooting at Nancy Leonard's home, in which Leonard's 5-year-old son was killed. The Los Angeles Times reported that Leonard was a single parent with four other children. Raskin traveled to Leonard's home and described the benefits of a Globe policy for her other children. He offered her the $10,000 term life policy for each of the children for a total cost of $21 per month. Leonard was in the process of…
