SCI 100 Module Three Activity Template: Finalizing Your Scientific Research Question Instructions Select one research question from those you wrote in the previous module. Use instructor feedback and what you have learned thus far in the course to revise your research question. Then, write your finalized research question below. Example The following example may provide some guidance on revising your own research question. Main idea of news story: The types of bacteria that live in the gut of people with chronic fatigue syndrome are different from the bacteria in people who do not have the disease. This indicates that there may be a connection between gut bacteria and chronic fatigue syndrome. Possible research questions: 1. What is the relationship between abnormal gut bacteria and inflammation? 2. What is the relationship between gut bacteria and chronic fatigue syndrome? 3. What is the relationship between inflammation and chronic fatigue syndrome? Finalized research question: 1. How could abnormal gut bacteria cause chronic fatigue syndrome? Finalize your scientific research question related to the main idea of your chosen news story. Are there certain types of mental health issues or conditions for which this type of therapy may not be effective? Explain how your beliefs, assumptions, and values may have impacted your research question. In scientific research, the beliefs, assumptions and values of the researcher can have a significant impact on the formulation of a research question and the interpretation of the result. This is because personal beliefs and values can shape how research or approaches a research problem and the conclusions they drop on their findings. Personal values can influence the interpretation of research findings. For Instance, a researcher who value social justice, I interpret the results of a study in a way that emphasizes the importance of addressing dis parties in health outcomes. On the other hand, a researcher who values individual responsibility may interpret the same results in a way that emphasizes the importance of personal accountability in approving health outcomes. To mitigate the impact of personal beliefs, assumptions and values on scientific research researchers must employ rigorous methodology, adhere to ethical guidelines and engaged in transparent and objective reporting of their findings. Additionally, researchers can collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to ensure multiple perspectives are considered in the research process.
Beliefs and assumptions along with values of a researcher can impact scientific research in significant ways. It is crucial for researchers to be aware of their own biases and make the steps to minimize their influence to ensure validity and reliability of their research. https://www.sciencedaily.com/release/2023/03/230301101544.htm
