Repetitions and insertions are ignored.
•
If the student self-corrects within three seconds, the word is counted as correct.

Alejandro is a second-grade student in Ms. Willaby’s class. Because Alejandro scored below the
benchmark on the universal screening, Ms. Willaby has been monitoring his reading performance using the Vanderbilt Passage Reading Fluency probe for the last six weeks. At this point, Ms. Willaby has collected six weeks of progress monitoring data and has just administered the last probe. Once
she has scored it and graphed all seven weeks of data, she will need to determine whether Alejandro is making adequate progress in the general education classroom (i.e., Tier 1 instruction). In addition, she has scheduled a meeting with Alejandro’s parents to discuss his progress and would like to illustrate his performance with his progress monitoring graph.

/ Assignment
Using the information above, help Ms. Willaby complete the following progress monitoring steps.
1.
Score the last probe.
2.
Graph all seven data points using the graph paper on the following page.
3.
The week 7 benchmark for this measure is 37 words read correctly in one minute. You are going to create a goal line for Alejandro keeping this in mind. First draw a dot at baseline (23 words). Then draw a dot for benchmark of 37 words for week 7. Then simply connect those two points. You have created a goal line for Alejandro on the graph! Use a different color to distinguish it from the other line.
4.
Decide whether Alejandro is meeting the established goal (i.e., responding adequately to the general education instruction). Explain your rationale.
5.
Describe what you think the teacher should discuss with Alejandro’s parents.

Using computers and other automated tools to grade true-false and multiple-choice tests is widespread, but grading essays has been reserved for instructors. Until now. Software developed by a nonprofit enterprise founded by Harvard and MIT recently released software that can grade student essays and short written answers. Students answer online instead of in a blue book and immediately receive their grade after clicking a Send button. The software uses artificial intelligence (it initially “learns” how to grade an instructor’s test by reviewing 100 essay exams that the instructor scored) and is designed to free up professors for other tasks, as well as give students the opportunity to immediately revise their graded essays for an improved grade. But does the system work? Are the automated grades similar to what a human grader would award? Skeptics (including the National Council of Teachers of English) say no. Objections include a lack of tests to support the validity…

PREFERENCES
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines prefer as to like better. We choose our preferences when we make one choice over another.
For example: During the school year, an athlete might choose indoor track over swimming. When shopping, a person may choose shorts over jeans.
These are ways that we exercise our preferences.
In our careers, we might choose to work with the elderly over working with people our own age. We might choose to fix things with our hands and machinery versus working on a computer.
Review the "Preferences" section of your drop down notes. Share 3 preferences that you think you would prefer in your work or work environment as they relate to the early childhood profession. Explain your choices. Think about: age of children, type of program, level of degree, etc. Explain why you choose this preference.

Evaluating a Procedural Text
In this task, you'll read a procedural text and then evaluate its organization and clarity, applying the guidelines you read previously. Then you'll suggest ways to improve it. This task will help you become familiar with the components of this type of text before you write your own. Read this written lab procedure, and then answer the questions that follow:
Performing a Lab Experiment
First, you'll need to make sure you have all your equipment, such as a science notebook, dissection tools, a stopwatch, an electronic balance, glassware, and possibly many others. The next thing that you'll want to do is have all your safety equipment—helmet, mask, goggles, ear protection, respirator, welding mask, whatever you need. Always follow these guidelines for safety:
Read the entire lab procedure.
Bring only needed materials into area.
Know where the safety and emergency equipment is located.
It's important to understand how to dispose of waste after…

c. How would you modify the algorithm to also print the salesperson's sales amount?
d. How would you modify the algorithm so that it can be used for any number of

e. How would you modify the algorithm to allow the user to enter the bonus rate? The
algorithm should then use that rate to calculate the bonus amount.

Reflection on Mindfulness Exercise: Finding Your Happy Place**
I selected the "Finding Your Happy Place" exercise because the idea of mentally escaping to a serene and calming space appealed to me. Lately, I’ve felt a little overwhelmed with my schedule, so I thought this exercise might help me find a sense of peace and focus.
Before the exercise, I felt a bit scattered, with my mind racing between tasks and concerns. My thoughts were cluttered, and I was finding it hard to focus on the present moment.
During the exercise, I was guided to imagine a place where I felt completely at ease. I envisioned a calm, quiet garden filled with sunlight and vibrant flowers, much like the peaceful image of the butterfly on a flower. This mental imagery helped me relax, and I found myself breathing more deeply, feeling grounded in the moment.
After the exercise, I felt noticeably calmer and more centered. My mind was clearer, and I had a…

Pick a well-known company or person (this can be a fictional company, e.g. Bushwood County Club, H.A.L. Labs, Rekall, Wally World, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce - or person, e.g. Bonita Juarez, Bruce Wayne, Olivia Pope, Hikaru Sulu, Diana Prince, Ray Arnold). Develop a fictional pre-text that would give you access to that company or person. Provide details on how you would accomplish your mission through pre-texting. This should be in a story format. In your replies, discuss if the pretext is realistic and if it would work in an actual situation.
Be more specific and provide more details at least three hundreds to five hundreds words. Include any relevant sources or resources used.

The term “knowledge” is defined in the dictionary (Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries) as the information, understanding, and skills that a person gains through education or experience. So, it is expected that only human-beings can possess and use knowledge.
However, with machine learning and deep learning, it now seems that “machine” can also possess and use knowledge. For example, Google’s AlphaGO won three-match series against the world’s best Go players.
Can “machine” possess and use knowledge? What do you think? Please provide details and examples to support your opinions.
