1.
List the structure of the Unites Nations and also the five tactics that the organization uses when trying to resolve conflicts between nations or countries. The structure of the United Nations is:
General Assembly
Security Council
The Economic and Social Council
The Trusteeship Council
The Secretariat
International Court of Justice The Tactics when trying to resolve conflicts are:
Negotiation
Inquiry

Adjudication
2. Explain the four reasons why Liberals criticize the poverty line.
1. The official definition does not consider what people think they need to live. The poverty line is well below what most Americans think they need to survive.
2. The official definition does not take into account regional differences in the cost of living, climate, or accepted styles of living.
3.The official definition does not count the many “near poor,” the 45 mil-lion Americans or 18% of the population which could be living below the poverty level.
4. The official definition includes case income from welfare and social security, and without this government assistance, the number of poor would be much higher, perhaps 25% of the total population.
3. Besides the executive and legislative branches, the military, the public, and other influential opinion makers, list the eight other major players who help to formulate foreign policy.
1.
President/Congress
2.
Political elites
3.
Multinational Council
4.
National Security Council 5.
State Department
6.
Defense Department
7.
Joint Chiefs of Staff 8.
Central Intelligence Agency
4. Explain Box 23-1 in at least two paragraphs.
Everyone matures in life with different backgrounds. Your parents are supposed to express to you the way life works and how school is supposed to play a major role in growing up. Well some people
don’t have that. After high school college is a decision. No one can make that decision for you but you. Not everyone who is wealthy went to college. I don’t see you calling them a Loser! But I do feel that choices have outcomes and depending on the choices you choose you must be able to face the outcome. So if you go to college and graduate you have the opportunity to have a 6 figure job possible straight out of college vs if you drop out it could possible take you half your life to get there.
I feel that when its comes to foreigners coming over to America you cant say were lying when it comes to trying to prosper in our adult age for multiple different reasons. Many of the foreign individuals are receiving easier access to certain sponsorship that us as Americans are not even allowed to receive. Also, from previous experience some of the foreigners that I met that came to American to attend school were not struggling financially. Meaning they or their parents were financially capable of affording their American lifestyle. So yes when you can afford to attend school and don’t have any obstacles to face on a day to day basis then I’m sure “it’s was a walk in the park”. 5. Explain Box 24-1 in at least two paragraphs.
I am originally from another state, and I feel that America does need to take care of the people that are here first. I was always told “how can you help someone else with out helping yourself first”. Where I’m from tent city honestly is like its on state itself. So many homeless men, women, and children. A lot of them complain about how there is no funding and how can we afford to live if wages are not properly calculated to survive. People who are receiving Americas help is just “eating us up for breakfast”. They are helping their people plus receiving extra funding from us so they will be completely taken care of. Were constantly being told there no funding or services that could help survive out here but as soon as another country needs help America to the rescue. Now there nothing wrong with helping but there should be priority of us Americans. How is it that the people over here are struggling to survive and feed
their children and you cant help but your letting people come over and your offering them money and assistance.
6. Explain the four reasons why Conservatives criticize the poverty line
.
"1. The official definition of poverty excludes “in kind” (noncash) benefits given to the poor by governments. If these benefits, including food stamps, free medical care, public housing, and school lunches were “costed out” (calculated as cash income), there might be only half as many poor as shown in official statistics.
2. Many persons (poor and un-poor) underreport their real income, which leads to overestimates of the number of poor.
3. Many families and individuals who are officially counted as poor do not think of themselves as “poor people.” 4. It does not consider the value of family assets. People who own their own mortgage-free homes, furniture, and automobiles may have in-comes below the poverty lines but do not suffer hardship.
7. Explain the structure of the Federal Reserve Board in full detail.
The Federal Reserve Board consists of banking regulators who establish banking policy and determine the amount of money put into circulation. The Federal Re-serve System consists of 12 regional federal reserve banks, a seven-member board of governors and five regional bank presidents. The 12 members of the Federal Open Market Committee are all professional economists. 8. List the eight major federal institutions of economic policy.
1. Office of Management and Budget (President)
2. Council of Economic Advisors (President)
3. Budget Committee—coordination (Senate)
4. Finance Committee—revenues (Senate)
5. Appropriations—expenditures (Senate)
6. Budget Committee—coordination (House)
7. Ways and Means—revenues (House)8. Appropriations—expenditures
9. List the five major political and economic policy areas in which the federal government must allocate resources to each fical year.
1. Social welfare
2. The regulation of corporations
3. Foreign and defense policies
4. Promotion of science and technology
5. Protection of legal and constitutional rights
10. According to Professor Yecats, explain the five reasons why people are poor.
1. They come out of environments which foster negative attitudes.
2. They have been made to believe by the agents of political socialization that they are victims of society and, therefore, many of the poor view themselves as helpless.

Amazon could launch a smartphone this year that costs “a fraction” of what Apple charges for its iPhone, a new report says. Amir Efrati at The Information spills details from an allegedly leaked internal Amazon document. The paperwork is said to have been produced by a potential partner and two people who were involved in discussions with Amazon. According to Efrati, the document discussed strategies for penetrating smartphone markets in China, Europe and the United States. Earlier discussions also mentioned Latin America as a possibility. The phone, which has been referred to as “Project Aria,” is likely to go on sale this year, according to Efrati. There’s no specific price, but he says Amazon is “determined” to “keep the phone at a small fraction of the iPhone’s $550-and-up price tag.” If Amazon does launch a smartphone this year, it’s unclear if it will fall under the company’s own brand or if it will work with a partner. Efrati says Amazon was “in talks” with “multiple…
