Project 5 Report EEL3123C Davi Dantas Kyle Ingleton Roman Luknicki
Objectives and Tasks - The ultimate goal of the project is to take measurements of a concealed AC load. - To achieve the design requirements, our group needed good understanding of filters. Dissection of Implementation             To identify the ZL element, the group added a known resistor with a value of 1k ohms in series with the box. With the known resistor installed, we measured the voltage of the input (Vin) as well as the voltage from the other end of the resistor to ground (V out) using the oscilloscope. Using V out/R to find the current, we used the formula Vin/I to determine the magnitude of the overall impedance of the circuit. We then used the oscilloscope to measure the phase shift between the two voltages. We took these values in polar form to represent our impedance and converted it to rectangular form. We then subtracted our resistance value of 1kohm from the real component of our rectangular value for the impedance. We then converted our answer back into polar form to get the proper phase angle for our impedance without our added resistor, and then calculated the cosine of the phase angle to get our power factor.
