Resistance in Parallel and Series Settings Alexa Frederick-Chung Physics II, Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ 16 October 2023
Introduction Circuits contains resistors, or components that limit the flow of charge. Resistors can be in parallel or series. When in parallel, each resistor is connected directly to the power source by connecting wires having negligible resistance. When in series, the current must flow through resistors sequentially. Ohm’s law relates the current, voltages, and resistance of a circuit with the equation: V=IR. Experimental Details Wire resistivity and battery resistance were set to zero. The first circuit was prepared using three resistors in parallel connected to two batteries in series. The total resistance, current, and voltage were measured at four different points. The second circuit was prepared suing three resistors in series connected to two batteries. The total resistance, current, and voltage were measured at two different points. Results
