ECE 201 Foundations of Electric Circuits Laboratory Assignment 7 Worksheet Written by Keith Zuckerman, Fall 2022 Name ______Jonathan Zdybel___________________ Date _____5/19/2023________ Fig. 1. RC circuit. 𝑉 ??𝑐 = 5 V , 𝐶 = 10 n𝐹, 𝑅 = 8.2 𝑘𝛺 . 1k Hz Exercise 1. Theory Determine the rise and fall times of the capacitor voltage, as described in the Lab 7 Assignment. Determine the voltage across the capacitor at ? = 5 𝑚?. Show all work here and enter values in Table 1.
Exercise 2. Simulation Complete the circuit capture and simulation as described in the Lab 7 Assignment. Determine the rise and fall times of the capacitor voltage. Adjust the duty cycle and determine the maximum voltage across the capacitor. Record these values in Table 1. Exercise 3. Measurement Build and analyze the RC circuit on your breadboard as described in the Lab 7 Assignment. Use the oscilloscope to measure the rise and fall times. Adjust the duty cycle and measure the maximum voltage across the capacitor. Calculate the difference between theory and measurement results using (1) % Error = | 𝑀 − 𝑇 𝑇 | 100% (1) where 𝑀 is the measured value and 𝑇 is the theoretical value. Table 1. Rise and fall times of a switched RC circuit Theory Simulation Measurements % Error (Theory vs. Measurement) Rise Time (ms) 1.8 ms 1.8 ms 1.96 ms 8.88 Fall Time (ms) 1.79 ms 1.78 ms -1.92 ms 7.26 Maximum 𝑉 𝑐 5 V 5 V 4.97 V 0.6 At the end of the lab session: 1. Upload your schematic in PDF form to the assignment’s Bb Learn page (*site is missing link submitted below*) 2. Turn in a completed worksheet
