Egypt is the most populous country in the Arab world, and the third most populated country in the continent of Africa. Egypt also makes up one-
quarter of the entire population of the Middle East. Egypt is located at the “crossroads” of southwest Asia and Africa. Egypt’s cities serve as an oasis throughout the desert and have successfully aided in the transportation of items up and down the Nile River throughout history. Egyptians later built the Suez Canal creating the shortest and most used trade route for passage between Europe and the Indian and Western Pacific oceans.
