HIS 100 Module Three Activity Template: Revising Questions Replace the bracketed text below with your responses. Identify the topic you chose to explore: Great London Smog Identify a historical perspective that could be applied to your historical event. A perspective that could be applied to my historical event is the political view of this disastrous event. Newspapers issued little to nothing about the health concerns of the smog and mostly the visual aspect. Delayed reaction to the fog also resulted from the Conservation Party's attempt to escape blame and avoid stricter regulations on air pollution (Thorsheim, 2018). Revise your research question based on evidence from your primary and secondary sources. While fog frequently surrounded London, why didn't locals notice a different reaction in the climate during the more use of coal consumption? How did the Great London Smog of 1952 affect the influence for more air quality committees? Explain how historical perspective and evidence from sources influenced your finalized research question. While reading relevant resources to my topic, the historical perspective and evidence influenced my finalized research question by giving me background of what happened after the Great London Smog. With the evidence that newspaper articles focused on the visual issues before the health issues, this made me question the overall environmental committees. Thorsheim, P. (2018). Death comes from the air. In Inventing pollution: Coal, smoke, and culture in Britain since 1800. Ohio University Press. 1
