SHORT PAPER –1 Debaki Kumari Upadhyaya 04/15/2023 HIS- 1301-22304 Colonial America's Native Americans. Native Americans and European settlers had a tumultuous relationship during the colonial era. They fought the attempts of the Europeans to expand their dominance over them by war and diplomacy. However, obstacles like new illnesses, the slave trade, and the steadily increasing European population in North America presented themselves to the Native Americans, preventing them from achieving their aim. Some Indian tribes received respectful approaches and welcomed the strange- looking foreigners as guests. However, for many indigenous groups, encounters with Europeans were marked by violent crimes including rape, murder, and kidnapping. Every group—indigenous or colonizer, elite or common, female or male, elder or child—responded based on their prior experiences, their cultural expectations, and their immediate circumstances, which may be the only broad generalization possible for the cross-cultural interactions of this time and place. So, the first impression about native Americans was not clear. It is never proper to dress in Native American attire. For various holidays and educational events, kids "dress up" as Native Americans on certain days in schools around the nation. Frequently, the clothing used to give off an "Indian" appearance has nothing to do with Native people or customs. Native Americans use clothes and decoration based on the greatly different Native American cultures and customs. Students' broad and incorrect perspectives of Native cultures and identities are given through "dressing up" as Native Americans. These outfits frequently imply that Native civilizations only existed in the past. We support educational initiatives and games that showcase the resilience and innovation of Native American life and cultures. This was not liked by Europeans.
The fact that the Hernando de Soto mission (1539–1542) was the main source of prolonged interaction between Europeans and the majority of Southeast Indian people. The majority of the population was farming at the time, and they supplemented their agricultural output with wild animal and plant diets. Native American settlements vary in size from hamlets to big cities, and the majority of Southeast cultures had a social structure with a priestly elite and commoners on each side. In the first decades of the 16th century, the Northeast Indians started having frequent contact with Europeans. The majority of the travelers were French or English, and their first interests were in trade and charting rather than actual conquest. The majority of Northeast Indians, like those in the Southeast, relied on a mix of cultivation and foraging, and many of them lived in sizable walled communities. There was a poor condition of whole India in 16 th and 17 th centuries. In a civilization that was mostly centered on agriculture, native women took care of the crops, fished, ground maize and other grains, and made the commodities they needed for their dwellings and commerce (such as baskets and mats). In a civilization focused on hunting, women prepared the skins for trade, cured the meat, and made various goods for both commerce and tribe use. Women had important revolutionary roles in early America. They performed roles that were constantly shifting. It is true that "all men are created equal." America was founded on this principle, but what about the women? Men wouldn't have been nearly as successful without women. But what did women actually do? Well, the roles that various races played in their populations varied. At its height, the Mughal Empire controlled riches unheard of in Indian history and spanned practically the whole continent. The Mughal Empire was a reasonably effective and organized organization from 1556 to 1707, when it was at the height of its incredible wealth and grandeur, with a large complex of persons, resources, and knowledge devoted to the service of the emperor and his aristocracy. However, unlike their Southeast counterparts, the tribes of the Northeast largely avoided hierarchical hierarchies. The century prior to colonization appears to have seen an increase in the intensity of intertribal rivalries; it has been hypothesized that as a result, the Northeast nations were much better prepared for offensive and defensive action than the peoples of the Southwest or the Southeast. Beyond what either side had anticipated, the effects of European interaction with Native Americans were severe. The Native Americans, on the other hand, suffered the consequences of contact for a far longer period of time than the Europeans, which contributed to the fall of Native American dominance in
