HIS 100 Secondary Source Analysis Worksheet Prompt : Replace the bracketed text with information from a secondary source of your choice. Be sure to include specific examples (page numbers, etc.). See the Sample Secondary Source Analysis Worksheet for reference on how to complete this assignment. Full APA citation TILLMAN, B. (2020). Last Air Battles of World War II. Aviation History, 31 (1), 26-33 Identify author and describe potential biases. The author is Barrett Tillman. His specialty of writing is war stories. He has written more than 550 articles. Tillman’s typical viewpoint in writing is from the view of the United States, I feel as though this can cause a bias in favor of the United States. By constantly writing in the viewpoint of the US Tillman may only write good about the US even when we were in bad light. Identify thesis and arguments. The thesis is because the United States dropped the atomic bomb it is superior because it declared war and invaded Japan. Arguments are how strong governments brought soldiers back safely, the atomic bomb was most definitely going to make Japan surrender, and the atomic bomb symbolized “the new atomic age”. What primary sources did the source rely on? This secondary source relied on interviews from when this occurred. Is the source reliable and convincing? Why or why not? I believe that this source is reliable and convincing because it started and was supported off of real-life interactions from that time. By using primary sources from that time is supports the claims throughout the article. How does the source relate to your project topic? How does it add to what you already know about the topic? This source relates to the drafting of the US Constitution because the goal of the constitution was to have a strong uniformed government. Without a strong government or military the United States would not have been able to invade Japan leading to the ending of the World War. 1
