Tulsa Race Massacre Survivors Testify. YouTube. Retrieved from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3L1e90L9cE Compare the narratives presented in your primary and secondary sources relevant to your historical event. After comparing the narratives presented in my primary and secondary sources, I learned that both sources provide true facts and educational information. Primary sources are from the personal experiences of the surviving victims, the secondary source was used to reference the point the authors were making. Describe one narrative that has significantly influenced the contemporary understanding of your historical event. Historical-based narratives have influenced my understanding of those who survived the traumatic event of the Tulsa Massacre. After watching the YouTube video of the survivors' testimonies, I feel like I can now see through their eyes and stories what they went through and how that event has affected their lives.
Explain how the chosen narrative helps you better understand your historical research question. Please provide your revised research question and then explain how the chosen narrative helps you better understand your historical event. How has segregation of whites and blacks changed since the Tulsa Massacre, and how does the change in this segregation play into today's society? The chosen narrative helped me better understand how the racial injustice from the Tulsa Massacre still occurs today. Yes, In 1964, the Civil Rights Act passed a law that prohibits any kind of discrimination based on race, color, gender, and sex, but that doesn’t stop racially committed hate crimes today. At the time of the Tulsa Massacre the political and the judicial system were horrible. Watching the YouTube video of the victims and hearing how justice still hasn’t been served has proved to me that racially motivated crimes will always be placed on the back burner when it comes to justice being served.
