1. In testing 9 sedans, Car and Driver magazine rated each on 13 different characteristics, including ride, handling, and driver comfort. Each vehicle also received an overall rating. Scores for each vehicle were as follows. Car Overall Rating, Y Ride, X1 Handling, X2 Driver Comfort, X3 1 83 8 7 7 2 86 8 8 8 3 83 6 8 7 4 83 8 7 9 5 92 8 9 9 6 84 8 8 9 7 88 9 7 7 8 82 7 5 8 9 95 8 9 9 a. Determine the least-squares multiple regression equation. Lease-squares multiple regression equation: Overall rating for a vehicle = Fixed cost + variable cost Overall rating for a vehicle(Y) = 51.436 + 1.658 X1 + 2.302 X2 + 0.555 X3 b. Interpret the y -intercept and partial regression coefficients. Partial regression coefficients are X1, X2 and X3 in the given multiple regression model. The direction of dependent variable (y) depends on partial regression coefficient changes. c. What is the estimated overall rating for a vehicle that scores 6 on ride, 9 on handling, and 7 on driver comfort?
