Lab Assignment 8 Data Security Course, Data Storage and Sharing Course, Implementing Mass Storage Course. October 15, 2023 Anthony Guerra In the course I learned about data security. Data security is protecting your personal
information in a digital vault. It involves using various techniques and measures to keep your data safe from unauthorized access, theft, or damage. This includes encrypting data, setting strong passwords, controlling who has access, and safeguarding it from cyber threats like hackers and malware. Essentially, data security is all about ensuring that your sensitive information remains confidential and intact in the digital world. NTFS permissions are a set of access control features in Microsoft Windows operating systems. They allow you to manage and control who can access, modify, or delete files and folders on NTFS-formatted drives. NTFS permissions provide a fine-grained level of control over file and folder access, enhancing the security and integrity of the system. In addition to these basic permissions, there are advanced NTFS permission settings that enable you to further customize access control, such as special permissions, ownership, and auditing. These permissions ensure that data is protected and only accessible by authorized users or groups while maintaining the overall security of the Windows file system. Share permissions are a set of access controls used to regulate access to shared resources on a network, typically in the context of a Windows-based network. These permissions determine who can access shared folders or drives and what level of access they have. Share permissions are applied at the shared folder or drive level and work alongside NTFS permissions when they are used together on a Windows network. When a user accesses a shared resource, the most restrictive combination of shared and NTFS permissions takes over. These permissions help network administrators control and secure access to shared data while ensuring that users have the necessary level of access to perform their tasks. I learned about Implementing mass storage. It involves setting up and managing a large amount of digital data in a structured and accessible way.
