Your objective is to install VirtualBox, set up a Linux virtual machine, and familiarize yourself with basic Linux commands. 1. Refer to this guide on installing Ubuntu in VirtualBox to install Linux on your virtual machine. You're free to choose any recent Linux release, although the guide uses Ubuntu Desktop for illustration.  Note: Lubuntu, a lighter version of Ubuntu, may be a suitable choice if your system resources are limited. Ensure you're choosing the correct version for your system.
