Lab 20: Explore LAN Configurations
Name:
Tam Doan
Purpose
The purpose of this lab is to help you understand the location and types of configuration settings
used with Local Area Networks (LANs).
Equipment
You will need a Windows system with a connection to a network (e.g., your school's network, your
home network, or the internet).
Microsoft offers configuration wizards to assist you in setting up your network with basic defaults.
While this is usually sufficient for a home network, business environments might require more
specific configurations or special settings.
Every computer connected to a LAN should have:
A Network Interface Card (NIC) with the appropriate drivers installed
Client software
Protocols
Services (such as file and/or printer sharing)
A unique computer name
A workgroup\domain name
If networked computers are functioning properly, all these components should be set up and
working.
Procedure
1.
NIC Drivers:
Open the Device Manager. Expand the 'Network Adapters' section. Right-click
on your network card, select 'Properties', and then click on the 'Driver' tab.
What does the 'Driver' tab tell you about your NIC drivers?
It provides me the information about the installed NIC drivers such as driver provider: Intel, driver date: 1/30/2022, diver version: 12.19.2.45
Please attach a screenshot of the 'Driver' tab.
