2 Strengths: What are your areas of strength within the Interpersonal cluster and how did you determine a competency as a strength? Provide supportive examples. Due to the interpersonal cluster, the HR (Human Resources) division can establish and maintain relationships with other departments and employees. Relationship management is a shared responsibility between company executives and individuals from outside the company. The three behavioral characteristics that comprise the Interpersonal cluster are Communication, Global & Cultural Effectiveness, and Relationship Management (SHRM, 2018). One of my strengths is behavioral competency in relationship management, which is part of the interpersonal cluster. According to SHRM (2018), Networking, relationship building, cooperation, conflict management, and negotiation are the five-sub competencies that form the relationship management competency. Managing relationships is a crucial part of human resources work, and each of the sub-competencies is vital to that end. Daily, my role as a FAYS Support Specialist requires me to manage relationships. When problems emerge, we attempt to have weekly huddle sessions to discuss them. If we can all agree that we are dealing with the same problem, we can work together to find a solution much more quickly. Relationship building, both within and outside the company, is a key component of our job as healthcare professionals, and these sub competences help us do just that. One of my strengths is the ability to communicate well. Effective communication is crucial to my professional success. We are always exchanging information with one another, and it is critical that we do it well if we want to complete the task at hand. Message delivery, information exchange, and listening make up communication. As an example, one of our responsibilities as Support Specialist is to confirm patients' health insurance and collect demographic information. Teamwork relies on the ability to communicate, listen, and relay accurate information.
3 Weaknesses: What are your areas of weakness within the interpersonal domain, and how did you determine a cluster as a weakness? Provide supportive examples. There are aspects of the interpersonal domain where I excel and places where I need improvement. Where I fall short is in relationship management competencies pertaining to negotiations. Too often, I let my desires dictate the outcome of a problem, rather than considering the feelings and perspectives of my colleagues. Listening is also important here; I have always considered myself an excellent listener, but I have realized that in the face of patients and coworkers, my listening skills may be useful for some improvement in the healthcare industry. My performance around global and cultural effectiveness as well. I am lucky to work in a diverse workplace. Every day, we encounter people from many levels of society, and although I may struggle to understand even the most basic aspects of their culture, I do my best to learn about them. I should also be up to date on any related global happenings that may impact the organization. Although I would strongly encourage it, I am not yet able to claim that I have collaborated with people from many cultural backgrounds. Strategies: What are your strategies for the development of behavioral competencies within the interpersonal domain? Provide supportive examples and information from your research. As a first step in developing the interpersonal cluster's behavioral competences, I would focus on strengthening my areas of weakness. For the sake of my company and its numerous endeavors, I would build and nurture connections with people outside of it. In addition, I will make it a point to hear out my teammates' problems and collaborate with them to find answers. Being prepared, listening attentively, and setting clear boundaries are all ways to become a better
