A. Describe what you learned about yourself based on the results of your self-assessment.
Based on my CliftonStrengths Assessment results, my top five strengths are strategic, learner, ideation, relator, and responsibility. After taking the assessment, I can see how these five strengths affect my thoughts, decisions, and behaviors.
I am strategic in my planning how to spend my time. Being a learner constantly drives to me learn new skills. Whenever I am presented with a problem and a solution, I immediately start thinking about different solutions or different ways of looking at the problem. I find myself relating to people I know well even if I have not been in situations they have been in or are going through. Whenever I take responsibility for a task or project, I do everything possible to finish it to the best of my ability.
Each of my five CliftonStrengths helps me in my current role as an IT Technician. Being strategic
helps me prioritize my service tickets. I work for a midsize company and am only one of two IT Technicians. Being able to be strategic about my time is imperative to be effective in my role. Being a learner is valuable in my role. I am constantly learning new ways to service existing equipment. I also work next to the company’s infrastructure engineer. Being a learner has allowed me to learn about his role as well as absorb information about the different systems in place at the company. Having ideation as a strength has already benefited the company I work for. I have worked at my current company for two months and I have implemented a new procedure that has not only benefited the IT department but has also benefited the business side of the business by saving money. Being a relator is huge in my current role as an IT Technician. When I work with internal employees or external employees, relating to their frustration, and sympathizing with them helps put them at ease and decrease their frustration. Finally, having responsibility as a strength benefits me greatly in my role. Taking on issues with equipment or systems and following through until the issue is resolved without direct oversight has made me a valuable member of the team.
B. Create one SMART goal for developing influential leadership skills.
Goal:
I want to improve my confidence in communicating my ideas on how to improve processes that are in place at a company. I will do this by bringing up my ideas for process improvement with four different co-workers
over the next month
.
S
– Improve my confidence in communicating process updates that need to be updated to improve business success.
M
– I will bring up the improvements with four different co-workers
over one month.
A
– I will spend thirty minutes
working out the details of the improvements before speaking with my co-workers.
R
– Improving my confidence in communicating process changes will help me work with my current team on future projects and in future roles.
T
– After one month
, I will be more comfortable communicating process changes that need to change to improve business outcomes.
How does my smart goal support the development of leadership skills?
Learning to confidently and effectively communicate processes and process changes is essential
for leaders. With my developing confidence in communication skills, I will be a more effective leader in any role I am in. With the skills I learn by working on my smart goal, I will be able to convey the needs of the business to my teammates and steer the direction of the team to the processes that need to be worked on and changed.
How do the strengths identified in your self-assessment will help you achieve your SMART goal?
All my strengths identified in the CliftonStrengths self-assessment will help me achieve my SMART goal. Being strategic will help me decide what procedures need the most attention and where the team’s energies need to be spent. Being a learner will allow me to learn from other people’s experiences and expertise to decide the best course of action. Ideation will help me think about processes differently and come to the best solution. Being a relator will help me understand team members and will also help me understand the way they feel and give me insights into their way of thinking. Also, it will allow me to understand how people will adapt to
changes in processes. Finally, responsibility being a strength, it will allow me to follow through with process changes and help me stay on top of changes.

How do you apply in 100 words? The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is designed to help people identify and gain some understanding around how they take in information and make decisions, the patterns of perception and judgment, as seen in normal, healthy behavior (Myers Briggs 2023). This assessment outlines how certain aspects of a person’s behavior and personality can dictate how they will react to different situations whether in a personal or professional setting. Personality refers to the relatively enduring pattern of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that characterize a person, along with the psychological processes behind those characteristics (McShane et al., 2022). In essence, it is the bundle of characteristics that make us similar to or different from other people. We estimate an individual’s personality by what he or she says and does, and we infer the person’s internal states-including thoughts and emotions-from these observable behaviors (McShane et al.,…

How do I respond to this in 100 words?Rewards are considered a vital key in creating employee devotion to increase performance and consistency (Bose & Maheshwary, 2019). When it comes to rewarding employees for their hard work, Plant Manager Henry Simms has various options available. When trying to motivate employees, they are often offered rewards such as additions to base pay, retirement contributions, commissions, profit sharing, cash bonuses, and meals (Employee, 2021). Employers generally focus on maintaining operating costs for better economic gains, so providing additional monetary rewards can conflict with the firm's goals (Holley et al., 2017). Employees report that they prefer to receive rewards based on individual performance, such as an increase in base pay compared to single lump sums or incentive pay (Holley et al., 2017). Looking at the company budget for employee rewards would ultimately determine how they can be handled. I would recommend offering a lunch to both…

As noted in this week’s textbook chapter, employees are happier when they received regular feedback (Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan, 2010, p.97). Feedback takes many forms, but one of the most obvious types is feedback on performance. Managers must be able to give employees feedback on what they are doing well, and areas where an employee needs to improve. Think about times in your career when you have received feedback. Consider if the feedback was specific, meaningful, relevant, and timely. Write a response that includes the following: The assessment criteria are listed as bullet points toward the bottom of the screen where the assignment guidelines are presented in the weekly Learning Guide. Please review the document on How to complete the peer assessment form included in the Unit 5 reading under the Peer Assessment heading. How to reply to this in 100 words?
For this week's discussion, we have been asked to review and discuss the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). This is an extension of the Jungian personality theory, which identifies personality traits that help identify performance measures that make it easier to promote and use employees in a way that will ensure their success (McShane & Von Glinow, 2022). However, there are particular areas in business where this can be used, as it is not a bulletproof evaluation tool, and, per the text, it could be a better tool for performance evaluation and pre-employment. (Coe, 1992). So, how does this apply to the question of the week, and how can we use it in daily business to increase the success of the employee and the business overall?
The MBTI tool could promote middle managers to the executive level. Executive-level managers are good leaders with strong communication skills and personality traits that set them apart from the pack (Men, 2015). We…

(Case Analysis (Sorry, You're Too Smart
Have you ever been turned down for a job because you
?"were "overqualified
Although this may sound like a compliment, it can be
disappointing when you are job hunting. Consider
applicants who are turned down for jobs because they are
"too smart." This could be determined by pre-
employment testing or the interviewer may assume
applicants' cognitive ability based on education level,
GPA, or certifications. You don't often hear someone say
that an applicant is "too emotionally intelligent" or "too
physically coordinated." So why does it matter if you are
?overqualified in cognitive ability
Employers may argue that cognitively overqualified
employees will not perform well in their jobs. The lack of
challenge they feel in the job tasks could make them
bored and unmotivated and then lead to low performance.
In fact, research shows that cognitively overqualified
employees perform just as well as other employees, but
not…
