Carter Racing Writing Assignment
After reading the Carter Racing case study, I have decided to have the team withdrawal from the race. While the team has placed in the top five in twelve of twenty-four races, it has had
an engine failure in seven of the last twenty-four, causing damage to the car and putting the driver at risk. The previous winnings have earned the team an oil company sponsorship and a trial tire company sponsorship and by withdrawing from the race they will lose the team’s entry fee and must pay back money to their sponsors. Withdrawing would end their season and leave the team $80,000 in debt, however withdrawing before the race would also benefit the team as they could potentially gain back their sponsors in the future.
Due to the temperature being 40°F, with the graph showing that there were engine failures in every race below 65°F, the engine looks like it would most likely fail during this race. The engine looks to be thriving between the temperatures of 65°F to 82°F. This race would be considered the coldest race of the season and since the engine mechanic mentioned that the engine failure could be caused due to temperature, I think it would be best if the team withdrew from this race and instead focused on developing an engine who could drive in any temperature condition since all seven failures had breaks in the head gasket.

The director collected $3000 amount as funds for the tournament on the condition that the amount will be spent on buying prices and trophies and for the two-day tournament and also arranging food for people participating in the tournament. The funds were collected as donations from the people.
However, the manager of the club said that as the club is struggling in making profits, $1500 would be spent on the tournament, and the remaining $1500 will be considered as pure profits. This was not acceptable by the person who arranged the funds for the tournament after convincing people that the entire amount will only be used on the tournament.
1. Was it right in challenging my manager? Should I have handled this differently?

Barbados GIS – The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has collaborated with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, and local business Adams Aquafarms, on a project to train persons in aquaponics. Aquaponics is a sustainable way of integrating land-based fish farming with plant production. Both are placed in a tank, and the set up allows for them to coexist, with the waste produced by the fish fertilizing the plants, while the plants purify the water for the fish. The training, funded by the FAO, will take place at a demonstration facility, located at Adams Aquafarms, Hopewell, St. Thomas. The FAO is currently targeting 30 entrepreneurs and 10 teachers. Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, Kirk Humphrey, believes the project will be “transformative”, as it has the potential to empower Barbadians. “In aquaponics, you have the opportunity to have, at the same time, multiple sources…
