Situation description and initial judgement Video summary of “Musk vs. Buffet, a Solar War in the Desert Heats Up.” The video tells us about Nevada, a place where the weather is bright and warm, making it a suitable environment for the installation of solar panels. This resulted in the idea of implementing solar rooftop systems which basically utilize the sun’s power and provide energy. By enabling homeowners to feed extra energy back into the grid, the state's net metering policy, put in place in the late 1990s, helped spark a solar revolution that reduced energy costs and promoted environmental responsibility. However, later regulation modifications that Nevada's Public Utilities Commission made, led to a problem. The judgement led to higher pricing for solar users and a significant impact on grid maintenance costs because it believed that solar consumers were unjustly contributing to those costs. This conflict is a clash of elites rather than just a conflict over energy resources. The discussion has a proxy war vibe due to the involvement of Elon Musk's Solar City and Nevada Energy, which stands in for Warren Buffett's financial empire. Homeowners who installed solar panels to reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs have felt the effects of the dispute most keenly, only to see their efforts undone by regulatory changes. Several rallies against this shift have started, involving a wide range of people from various social backgrounds. This scenario sets up a bigger drama that goes beyond its immediate results: the struggle between major energy companies and the development of environmentally friendly electricity generation. My initial judgement In line with ecological objectives, the inaugural net metering rule sought to increase renewable energy sources while reducing carbon emissions. As a result of installing solar panels on their homes, homeowners supported cleaner energy sources and reduced their own environmental effect. The Public Utilities Commission's later policy change, in contrast, may be viewed as morally incorrect, in my opinion. Changes to the regulations after people have made investments based on the previous set of rules undermine fairness and trust. This may appear to be a preference for powerful energy companies like Buffet above average citizens who care about the environment.
Business Leader Profile: Elon Musk Elon Musk is a successful entrepreneur who was born and raised in South Africa. He is 51 years old and is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. He was a gifted technologist, businessperson, and entrepreneur who bought his first computer when he was 10 years old and taught himself how to program it. When he was 12 years old, he sold the Blaster Space Game, his first computer algorithm software program, for about $500. Musk left South Africa at the age of 17 to avoid serving in the military. (Agrawal, 2021) . In his bid to acquire Twitter, Elon Musk looks to have encountered a barrier. Despite receiving a deluge of support from site users, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has had problems with his own money and those in charge of the platform right now. His hefty $44 billion acquisition offer's viability is now in doubt given the new obstacles. In the months since he revealed his Twitter arrangement, Elon Musk, the "free speech absolutist," has seen a significant change in public perception because of people's growing cynicism towards the tech tycoon. (Doyle, 2022) Mr. Musk claims that he bought Twitter because he supports citizen journalism and free expression. While other news outlets edit and fact-check articles, a citizen journalist linked to Twitter can publish their own "news" without conducting any investigation or gathering any proof. (Nasaw, 2023) Starlink, which makes use of a satellite fleet to enable what are intended to be high-speed internet connections intends to eventually grow into a giant constellation of 42,000 satellites, with about 4,500 satellites now in orbit, the majority at about 550km above Earth. (Denny, 2023) In Gruenheide, Germany, close to Berlin, Tesla constructed a $7 billion gigafactory. With the capacity to produce 500,000 cars annually, the business claims it will be the most advanced high-volume electric vehicle production plant in the world.
