Unit 4 Chapter Homework
1.
2. The minimum number of weeks for completion is 37 weeks. 3. The slack in the path is in the supplier’s selection under subcontracting. This can be completed
after supplier specifications are met and can be done during product design and integration. 4. The expected impact is an increase in speed and the production process would likely decrease in number of weeks. 5. This change would decrease the total production time by 12 weeks to 25 weeks. This change will be made to decrease slack time and complete two processes at once which will decrease overall time to produce. 6. I believe these changes should be used to increase the efficiency of the project. Time will decrease, and the process will be more efficient. I would implement these changes and then evaluate the impact they had on the project before implementing them into future projects. P1 2 Weeks

Discussion Question 1
1.
The most complex project I have worked on was a bathroom demolition. The work breakdown was as follows: removing drywall, removing floor, removing shower/tub, remove vanity and light fixtures. The job was done by me and another employee. The job
manager made sure the tools needed were on site on day one. The proper masking equipment was provided to preserve the rest of the house. The dumpster arrived on time and the task manager thoroughly explained the work package and lined us out. There were bumps along the way, but we were able to finish the project in one day which was a half day sooner than allotted. Our project manager was stellar, and we stayed on the critical path.

Preliminary plans are underway for construction of a new stadium for a major league baseball team. City officials question the number and profitability of the luxury corporate boxes planned for the upper deck of the stadium. Corporations and selected individuals may purchase a box for $300,000. The fixed construction cost for the upper-deck area is estimated to be $4,500,000, with a variable cost of $150,000 for each box constructed.

Alex owns a shop that sells customized BMX bikes. Each one is uniquely tailored to the rider. The products are unique one-offs, made by an outsourced company to individual designs agreed between Alex and a designer from the outsourced company.
In WEEK 26, Alex discusses with the manufacturer a design for a new bike. Alex and the manufacturer agree on a specification and an order is placed with the manufacturer.
A. Calculate how long it will take before the BMX bike is available for sale in Alex's shop. That is, what is the Lead-Time between Alex placing order with her manufacturer and being able to display the item for sale in her shop?
The information you need to calculate the Lead-Time is as follows:

To raise the order for the parts for the bike 1week
To manufacture and deliver all the parts of the bike 4 weeks
To assemble the bike 2 weeks
To deliver the finished product to Alex’s shop 1 week
