Good afternoon fellow classmates and professor, During my time in this course, I have learned a lot of valuable information that I can take on with me in my future career in supply chain management. I learned so much that I can’t describe just one concept I have learned, because with this course it is best to describe the most important concept I have learned as a combination of concepts. Therefore, one of the most important concepts I have learned in this course is how to apply different types of technology to supply chain operations. This has impacted my perception of supply chains in a way that makes it seem more manageable and gives a sense of relief knowing that there is technology out there that can support pretty much every function of a supply chain, and now I know the fundamentals of what would be needed and where for operations in supply chain management. For example, the future of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology has a great potential of changing the way we deliver goods from traditional methods commonly used. If I need to deliver a product to a remote and obscure location where trucks can get to, I can use drones to make the delivery and probably in faster time than the previous method (McCloud,2022). I can use artificial intelligence technology for analyzing large sets of data to help me determine a complex decision when it comes to planning, inventory forecasting, and controlling and observing customer demands and trends. Additionally, I can use app-based technology that has been disrupting the logistical industry to streamline operations from anywhere with access of my smart mobile device. These can be used for oversight and visibility purposes and quick ways to manage different aspects of supply chain operations like choosing the right suppliers, contracting out truck drivers, and scheduling of shipments. Lastly, the use of robotics can take the warehousing operations to the next level that resolves the issues of employee shortages and the risk of human error on network
systems which can handle way more than a human can reducing costs and increasing productivity (McKinsey & Company, 2020). These are just examples I have learned about and where I would apply these technologies in supply chain management. References McCloud, D. C. (2022, August 24).
