2-3 Final Project Milestone One: Scenario Selection – Information Paper
Southern New Hampshire University
QSO-435 Adaptive Project Management
Professor Blair McKenzie
November 7, 2023
.
Scenario Selection
Managed and controlled by the Georgia-based Cox Target Media, I have chosen the case study Chapter 19 – Valpak. Valpak commenced operations in 1968 in Largo, Florida, and proclaims to be one of the most prominent direct marketing firms in North America, supporting nearly 54,000 organizations a year to achieve their objectives. The IT department at Valpak develops and maintains technology for a broad range of users and stakeholders, such as coupon-
focused consumers, Valpak franchisees in need of systems to manage their sales and operations, retailers seeking to monitor and optimize their return on investment, and conventional internal corporate stakeholders required to manage core business functions (Cobb, 2015).
Analyze of Traditional Project Management (TPM) and Adaptive Project Management
(APM)
Processes in traditional project management (Waterfall Methodology) follow a predetermined sequence, rigid plan and are chronological in nature. With this method, the project
adheres to an established series of phases and is based on the idea that requirements won't change
while the budget and project schedule may (2022). Some of TPM advantages are clear direction, high level of control, single point of accountability and clear documentation. While TPM does not prioritize learning from past mistakes and outcomes to better future practices, adaptive project management does, and it does so by relying on its flexibility. Adaptive
project management embraces a project's flexibility, continual improvement, and adaptability since it recognizes that conditions will change during the project's lifecycle specifically in an uncertain or volatile environments (Duperval, 2023).

Timberline Health, an integrated delivery system serving residents in five counties in eastern Washington, is considering new opportunities to increase community awareness of the organization’s outpatient health services. As the new business development manager of hearing health services, Jack Andrews is responsible for evaluating the feasibility of marketing activities for the hearing service line and must allocate resources to promotional activities that forecast positive return on investment. One option under consideration is to sponsor the health and wellness pavilion at the Spokane County Fair. Research from comparable markets has shown
that wellness fairs are not only effective at educating communities about potential risk factors for health problems, including hearing loss, but also increasing consumer awareness of new or existing health services provided by local health organizations. These activities are essential to Timberline Health’s mission within the community.

Goal Statement: Our goal is to improve the overall mental health status of veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP by up to 80% for those struggling with mental health challenges by facilitating real-time accessibility to a peer support platform utilizing a mobile app to fill the gap that currently exists when veterans are awaiting appointments for psychological supports that are currently funded by Veterans Affairs of Canada. We aim to reduce the strain on the general health system due to the repeated appointments with a veteran's primary care practitioner to inquire about further mental health resources and to improve a veterans quality of life while they are adjusting to civilian life in between their federally funded psychological supports.

XSU Spring Concert
You are a member of the X University student body entertainment committee. Your committee has agreed to sponsor a spring concert. The motive behind this concert is to offer a safe alternative to Alta Vista Baby (AVB) Week‐end, a spring event in which students for X University rent houseboats to engage in heavy partying. Traditionally this occurs during the last weekend in May. Unfortunately, the partying has a long history of getting out of hand, sometimes leading to fatal accidents. After one such tragedy last spring, your committee wants to offer an alternative experience for those who are eager to celebrate the change in weather and the pending end of the school year. You have just finished a preliminary scope statement for the project (see below).
You are now brainstorming potential risks associated with the project.

Solve the question :
Tony and his team identified some risks during the first month of the Recreation and Wellness Intranet Project. However, all they did was document the risks in a list. They never ranked the risks or developed any response strategies. Because the project has had several problems, such as key team members leaving the company, users being uncooperative, and team members not providing good status information. Tony has decided to be more proactive in managing risks. He also wants to address positive risks as well as negative risks.
The question is :
assign a numeric value for the probability and impact of each risk on meeting the main project objective.

III. Risks and Feasibility
This section of your report identifies risks and confirms the feasibility of the information systems development project. Project feasibility analysis verifies whether a project may be started and successfully completed. Your report should address the feasibility issues listed below. Start by clearly describing what issues are addressed by each feasibility category (see the relevant definitions in the textbook), and discuss the feasibility of the project with respect to each category.
Determine organizational and cultural feasibility. This evaluates organizational and cultural issues to identify potential risks for the new system. See pp. 269–270 of the textbook for examples of potential issues.Note: the textbook does not provide an exhaustive list of possibilities!Note: ‘organization’ in this context refers to the Car Sharing community—all stakeholders, but particularly members and prospective members.
