ASSIGNMENT: WEEK 3- INTERNATIONAL EVENT 2
Introduction
Planning a successful event can be a daunting task within itself, however to add the element of the event destination being international is a whole other level. This can be due all
sorts of things in and out of the planner’s control, thus having a toolkit to pull from and open open communication with the client will help in mitigating issues as they arise. Furthermore, things to keep in mind when with international events are travel restrictions, language barriers, cultural differences and financial expenses overall.
For this event I have been requested to do and turned over from a previous event planner, I have a three-month timeline to work within for my clients so they are in a bit of a pinch. Therefore, I have to be very strategic and straightforward with my planning and the resource that I will utilize will be Destination Management Organization (DMO) for Asia vice
a Professional Conference Organizer (PCO).
ASSIGNMENT: WEEK 3- INTERNATIONAL EVENT 3
The Plan
It is without question that international events can be a bit more on the stressful side because of the longer processing of things. Keeping in mind without have the ideal it would normally take to put things in actions, things have to be done right the first time in additions to having a meticulous budget. Socio-economic factors have to be taking into consideration in addition to meeting the needs of my clients and being inclusive of cultural norms (Krugman & Wright, 2007).
The first step I will take to "fix" this and bring this event into fruition for Karen and John is to go over what was in place already and address any questions, concerns, and/or changes to be made (if any). Reverifying the budget for the event would be a crucial element because being international, currency conversion is now added to the equation because the American dollar may not have the same value as it would in the US. The last thing I would want
as an event planner is to have the client learn after signing a contractual agreement that their budget will not allow them to have event that they had in mind. However, this could determine if
the necessity of the face-to-face event can be held virtually if need be (McArthur, 2014). The best start of reconnaissance would be utilizing World Tourism Organization UNWTO site because it is a single point of information on marketing and promotion plans, value
chain analysis and local economic development, and tourism legislation and regulation (Sturken, 2010). Then select a Destination Management Organizations (DMO). I chose a DMO over a Professional Conference Organizer (PCO) because their primary
purpose is
to increase tourism
to their destination by generating awareness and demand, ultimately resulting in economic

Hoosier Burger Juan Rodriquez has assigned you the task of requirements determination for the Hoosier Burger project. You are looking forward to this opportunity because it will allow you to meet and interact with Hoosier Burger employees. Besides interviewing Bob and Thelma Mellankamp, you decide to collect information from Hoosier Burger’s waiters, cooks, and customers. Mr. Rodriquez suggests that you formally interview Bob and Thelma Mellankamp and perhaps observe them performing their daily management tasks. You decide that the best way to collect requirements from the waiters and cooks is to interview and observe them. You realize that discussing the order-taking process with Hoosier Burger employees and then observing them in action will provide you with a better idea of where potential system improvements can be made. You also decide to prepare a questionnaire to distribute to Hoosier Burger customers. Because Hoosier Burger has a large customer base, it would be impossible to…

The consulting firm is charging $350,000 for the remaining tasks to be performed. These tasks are to be performed over the next 10 months as detailed in the Gantt chart in the diagram.
