JWI581- Week 3 Discussion 1 In your own words, explain your understanding of the 3 ways that data can be used to provide insight in the healthcare industry. o Three ways data can be utilized in the healthcare industry are through the terms of reactive, proactive, and predictive. When looking at how reactive data works, we can use the data that has been previously collected which allows the industry to realize that there may be a problem. An example of this would be looking at patient feedback and adjusting the needs based on what the feedback data collects. Next, proactive data is utilized to prevent the incident from happening ahead of time allowing for circumstances to be adjusted before a problem occurs. An example of this could be looking into turnover rates and adjusting things within the healthcare organization that made a certain percentage of employees leave within a given period of time. Third, predictive data allows a prediction using facts to occur allowing for the opportunity to intervene. An example of this could be a health care organization to look at compensation rates and adjust compensation based on trends within the market and within other organizations in the area, this allows for a prediction to occur and make this organization more inviting through incentivizing potential employees. Which of these 3 approaches is the most applicable to your project? Why? o In my project, I think it will be best to look at reactive data. I believe this is because this is data that has been collected and it allows for those within the organization to make a better judgement call on things that need to be adjusted and changed within the sector. Who are the stakeholders or decision makers to whom you will need to present your insight and ideas? o When addressing staffing shortages, I do believe that management and leadership will need to be addressed. These decision makers have to acknowledge that there is a staffing issue effecting patients and staff. These decision makers can then further support their staff in a way that is deemed appropriate. How can Duarte's ideas in Chapter 2 and 3 on how to present data help you to engage and inform this audience? o It is important to know your decision maker when presenting this type of data, by doing so, speaking selectively to the audience and presenting data that correlates directly to their job and
decision-making skills may be an avenue when making the point. Knowing the audience and speaking in shorthand while proving points, allows for those being presented to, to understand key facts and not get caught up in irrelevant detail. Reference 1. I think that giving other data in a timely manner is such a great idea when looking into an investing infrastructure. I think that this gives investors to look at information freely with adjusting any risk that may be involved (1). This also allows for more time to dedicate to fundraising (as you had mentioned) and allows for these avenues of investing to become clear with ample time given (1). 1. Sofi (2024). Nigel, Thank you for sharing with us this week. I have been interested in AI and I wanted to respond to your post. I think that this utilization will help the pharmaceutical world, as it is suffering from shortages. The incorporation of these AI technologies will provide pharmacists with tools and systems that help them make accurate and evidence-based clinical decisions (1). I think that when presenting this topic to stakeholders, that there is a clear path to include patient satisfaction included. This also allows for pharmacists to analyze large amounts of patient data, including medical records, which can save a lot of time for pharmacies and give higher return rates (1). 1.
