Page 1 of 3 Professional Development Plan - Technology to Support Curriculum General Instructions Your superintendent has asked that you investigate your teachers' needs in using technology to improve instruction, increase student engagement and motivation, and meet the diverse learning needs of students. She wants you to design a one-year professional development plan for next school year in which you will provide training and ongoing support to teachers. She asked that you design a presentation that you can share with the school board members at the next meeting about your plan so that they can help provide needed financial resources to support your plan. Create a presentation (PowerPoint, Prezi, Google Slides, etc.) that you could present to the Superintendent and the School Board demonstrating your plan to provide professional development during the next year for your faculty/staff on technology usage to increase student motivation, engagement, and diversity. Slide 1: Describe how current technology is used in your school and what learning needs teachers have. Describe how you determined those needs: did you talk with the teachers, conduct a needs survey, etc.? Slides 2-3: Share how you would meet the diverse learning needs of the teachers and how you would keep them abreast of the latest trends in technology use throughout the year. Your plan should address how you plan to differentiation professional development and support to the various learning needs of the teachers. Be specific in how you would do that. Will you provide breakout sessions on the same topic? Will you provide choices of trainings on the same day or on different days? What will you do for new teachers each year? Etc. Slide 4: Describe how you plan to inspire (and provide emotional support to), supervise, and provide feedback to teachers. Slide 5: Indicate the process for maintaining integrity through adherence to the current code of ethics, legal issues, and moral behaviors as well as how to ensure equity. Slide 6: Explain how you will utilize technology as a leader to manage the professional development plan (consider budgeting, organizing the trainings, collecting feedback, observation information, etc.). Slide 8: Share a table with the timeline for the year. Slide 9: Share a table with the budget. Be specific as school board members will want the details. (This is just for the PD and not technology itself so don’t include equipment/network needs. Think of bringing in trainers, sending teacher to conferences or workshops, hiring subs to free teachers for training during the school day, stipends for summer or outside of contracted time, etc.)
