Module 2 Milestone For this milestone I will be interviewing associated parties that will be the target audience of the application that is currently being developed. The application will help people monitor loved ones or colleagues that may have a mental disability such as dementia or just require monitoring due to being young or even high-risk workplaces. Some topics might include how they would use an application like this, what are some key functions would be required for the application to apply to their situation, to what extent of monitoring would be required? – Camera View/Boundaries/Motion Detection etc, what age group would you be using this application on? Is the need for this application for medical, personal, or professional use. I will be interviewing three sample audience users and giving them the opportunity to address their wants and needs for this application. Interview One, I completed this interview verbally with a customer from one of my existing businesses. She is a mother of three, and her spouse does traveling work for construction. She is interested in the application for monitoring the children when she is busy or not available. Key features she listed as a necessity were camera integration for front and back yards, motion detection for the pool, and appliance sensors for the oven. Her main concerns were the children cooking and starting a fire, and the pool motion detection. She included camera integration as more of a strange person alert than her children leaving the yards. She also expressed concern for cost as she’s priced pool motion detection in the past and most are a subscription model and are very costly.
Interview Two, I completed this interview verbally with my mother on the topic of elder- care. My mother looks after my grandmother who lives in her own apartment near-by. With her increasing age, my grandmother has trouble remembering when she has started things like the oven or bathtub. She also is beginning to lack certain cognitive functions such as what to do if the house gets cold. My mother noticing these changes over the last few months has began searching for options on how to provide care, when I spoke about this topic she agreed there is a need for an application such as this. Some key features she gave were appliance detection such as the oven, iron, and bathtub. She wasn’t as worried about boundaries as my grandmother hasn’t ever left the apartment and become lost but did express how that feature could be very useful if the situation called for it. During this interview we had an interesting debate about the ethics of an application like this, and while some make good points on the invasion of privacy with camera or motion detection; the application is not meant or developed for the purpose of spying. This is one of those issues that comes along with any product brought to market as an unintended use. So, while I am not exactly sure on how to prevent misuse in this application I stand firm in my belief that an application such as this could greatly help certain parties. Interview Three, I decided to cover one more group that may be able to use the application. This would be a professional application, in an assisted living facility. These facilities are unlike nursing homes in the notion that residents usually reside in their own apartments and are visited by helpers throughout the day/week. This application would apply to this type of lifestyle in forms of monitoring for emergencies. The application could read sensors such as the oven, faucets, and even the fall sensor. Since most of these facilities are gated and enclosed, the threat of wandering isn’t at the top of the list. Utilizing this application with these
