Core Scripture Reading assignment I chose to focus on: Connection, Pattern or Theme that I found in the scripture(s): What does that “Connection, Pattern or Theme” have to do with you and your life right now? Example: 3 Nephi 14:1–5 We should not Judge others, but we should first look to improve ourselves so we can clearly see to be an example for others. In my own life I need to improve my behavior so that I am an example to my children and not a hypocrite when I tell them they need to make changes. In chapter 7 Nephi expressed his unwavering commitment to following the Lord’s commandments. This establishes the pattern for his actions later when, despite facing sorrow and potential failure, he was determined to fulfill God’s commandments. His steadfastness is evident as he convinces his brothers not to return to their father until they have completed the task assigned by the Lord. Just like Nephi, I find myself facing challenges in my life as I walk the path I am on. Whether it's tackling complex tasks, overcoming setbacks, or staying focused on long-term goals, the essence of determination amid adversity remains pertinent. This theme reminds me of the importance of staying dedicated to the principles or objectives that I believe in, even when faced with difficulties or uncertainties. It serves as a reminder to persist in pursuing what I value, aligning my actions with my beliefs and objectives despite the obstacles encountered along the way. 2 Nephi 5:16–17, 27 The significant theme I found was adaptation and commitment to spiritual principles amidst limitations. We read about Nephi’s dedication to constructing a temple despite not having access to the same wealth of resources as Solomon did. This illustrates the pattern of adapting to circumstances while maintaining the essence and importance of spiritual practices and structures. It reflects the ability to honor and uphold sacred rituals and worship, even when faced with material scarcity or limitations. Additionally, verse 27 encapsulates the theme of commitment to spiritual living by stating that despite the challenges and hardships, they found a way to live after the "manner of happiness." This highlights the commitment to adhering to spiritual principles as a means of finding contentment and fulfillment, regardless of external constraints. I often run into situations that do not align perfectly with my initial plans or expectations, I face circumstances that require flexibility and creativity to pursue my goals. Whether it's adapting strategies to overcome challenges or adjusting my personal routine to accommodate unexpected changes, I am reminded of the importance of staying committed to core principles even when circumstances aren’t ideal. It encourages me to remain dedicated to my values, spiritual well-being, finding contentment and purpose despite limitations or obstacles in my path.

Jacob chapters 1:2, 7, 8, and 17-19 A notable theme revolves around leadership responsibility and spiritual guidance. Jacob, as a leader, acknowledges the importance of preserving essential teachings for the benefit of future generations. This sets a pattern of conscientious leadership, emphasizing the responsibility to document and pass down spiritual knowledge. It is important for members and leaders to teach, guide, and encourage adherence to spiritual principles, even in the face of opposition or moral challenges. Responsibility and spiritual guidance resonate with me as I navigate various roles in my life. As someone who often finds themselves in positions where guidance or mentorship is sought these verses really emphasize the importance of providing guidance and support to others. I feel compelled to offer guidance, share knowledge, and encourage moral principles in my interactions. It serves as a reminder of the importance of being a positive influence, fostering growth, and helping others navigate challenges by sharing with them. Christlike Character Trait I would like to develop to become a True Disciple. Why is that character Trait important to obtain? How will YOUR LIFE be better if you get that character trait? EXAMPLE: Christlike disciples are introspective Analyzing my own strengths, weaknesses and goals can be an important key to the process or repentance, growth and improving myself as a son/daughter of God. If I can truly be honest about some of my weaknesses, for example, my pride and ego, then I can seek for the help that God can extend me and I can be humble enough to receive it. Also, I would be open to the inspiration of the Holy ghost and receive the direction and help God wants to give me. This trait would empower me to face obstacles with resilience, allowing me to adapt to and overcome unexpected difficulties in pursuit of my goals.
