Psychological impacts c. Motivation behind trolling 1. What do I already know about the psychology of online trolling? Numerous terms have been used to describe various facets of the trolling phenomena, including flaming, cyberbullying, trolling, harassment, and crap-posting. Even if these labels are not the same, they all refer to rude, unwelcoming behavior that takes place online with the intention of interrupting conversations—often by unexpectedly entering them. 2. The problem with trolling and cyberbullying in general is that it can be challenging to locate a legal remedy to assist in preventing the attacks. Every nation has laws that address this type of online harassment and stalking. 2 Any form of bullying that takes place via the use of electronic media devices, including computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, or gaming consoles, is known as online bullying (also known as cyberbullying). a. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and more. b. Cyberbullies can be found on social media, in wellness applications, on open forums, when playing video games, and more. More private cyberbullies, on the other hand, will communicate via direct chat, texting, or email.
3 1. Trolls are often ordinary people, and trolling is a situational, rather than an intrinsic characteristic. In other words, anyone can become a troll or become trolled. According to psychological research, trolls are more likely to be men and exhibit higher degrees of sadism, or the pleasure of inflicting misery on others, as well as psychopathy, or poor empathy, guilt, and responsibility for their acts (Christie& Dill,( 2016)). 2. Trolls frequently use intense emotions to obtain attention and acceptance from others. They enjoy the attention they get when their thought-provoking and divisive posts spark a lot of debate and controversy. 3. Trolling has the potential to be more common than traditional bullying. Cyberbullying victims can be reached anywhere, at any time, and have a vast potential audience, unlike conventional bullying, which is typically restricted to the school setting with a respite at home. 3 Social theories can be used to analyze online trolling to better understand the reasons behind and actions of trolls. a. Anonymity and disinhibition, authority and management, activity that seeks attention, Operant training, Disinhibition impact online b. My audience can understand the concept of how "the shadow of the future" affects human interactions and the social psychology explanation for it. 4 "Facebook" is a feedback loop for social validation. It's exactly what a hacker would create because this kind of social media network is only exposing a psychological weakness in people. a.
