1 CASE REPORT 5—Colby Tyler Audrey Decker 06/01/2024 PSYCH 476—Dr. Crosby Case Report: Colby Tyler DSM5 After examining and reading about Colby Tyler’s case study, his symptoms would match the criteria in the DSM-5 for ADHD. His symptoms the most align are his disconnect to schoolwork, misplacement of belongings, and inability to focus and stay on task,. The ADHD specifier that would be most appropriate based on his presentation would be inattention (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2018) Case Conceptualization Colby Tyler is an adolescent 14-year-old boy who is showing symptoms of ADHD through inattention. 2 CASE REPORT 5—Colby Tyler factors in mind, Colby may benefit from family therapy to help him cope through his home life to see if his symptoms are situational or ADHD. It helped Colby to develop a sense of self outside of how his behavior and actions as a kid. This offered almost as an “escape” for Colby from his stressful family life. If he was not labeled as “gifted” he might not have had that avenue to de-stress or have his needs met which would ultimately be bad for his development throughout adolescence.
