(10 points) the the concept of social control, people are motivated to uphold the law by their relationships, commitments, values, norms, and beliefs. Therefore, people will voluntarily reduce their tendency to engage in deviant behavior if moral principles are internalized and they feel a sense of belonging to and responsibility for their larger community. The idea of free will is a fundamental aspect of human nature, which endows criminals with agency and accountability for their actions. According to the theory of strain, an individual experiences emotional disturbance, commonly referred to as strain, when they are unable to reach culturally-acceptable goals through institutionalized ways. The person is therefore forced by this strain to adjust to his surroundings in order to reduce his stress. The different adaptations fall into one of five categories: innovation, ritualism, retreatism, conformity, and rebellion. Its assumption about human nature is that All humans are inherently good-natured and pro-social.
