What are all of the social impacts of global aging reviewed in this video? The social impacts of global aging reviewed are family composition, living arrangements, housing demand, migration trends, and health care. 2. What social impact in the video interests you most and why do you think it is important to consider as we study global aging? The social impact that interests me the most is health care. In the United States, health care can be the thing that can make or break you and your family. Costs are just too high, especially if you are middle class and make too much to apply for state programs like MediCal and make too little to pay it off. The fear of health care debts causes people to suffer, especially elderly who can't afford health treatments. Health care is a crisis already and if the global age demographic shifts within the next three decades, it will only get much worse as less money goes into the economy. 3. What are all of the economic impacts of global aging reviewed in this video? The economic impacts of global aging reviewed are economic growth, savings, debt, investment, and consumption. 4. What economic impact in the video interests you most and why do you think it is important to consider as we study global aging? The economic impact in the video that interests me the most is debt. Debt is important to consider as we study global aging because as more of the working force ages and enters retirement, the economy will decline due to not having enough younger people to replace the older people that left. This means that there will be less flow of money in the economy resulting in less money going around for everyone. People will have to start taking loans to make ends meet or to buy houses and cars, everyone will have debt and no savings for emergencies or retirement. 5. The video reviewed certain steps to consider with the reality of global aging. Identify what we should consider, per the video, from the following (multiple choice answer). D. All of the above were listed, in the video, as important steps to consider.
2 Dig Deeper and Discuss 1. What emerging trend interests you the most and why? The emerging trend that interests me the most is global aging because of inflation. In 2023 going into 2024 I have seen the effects of inflation in grocery stores, gas stations, and many other spaces in the economy. While the news says inflation is going down we all know that is not true. Inflation due to global aging will unfortunately only continue to get higher resulting in the further increase of essential products like food, gas, and hygiene products. We are seeing the economy suffer first hand and if global agin continues to become a growing concern it is only going to get worse. 2. Why do you think it's important to understand global aging? It’s important to understand global aging because it’s a subject that's going to affect everyone. It’s a topic that is going to become crucial in the upcoming decades resulting in mass changing socially, economically, and politically. It’s not something that can be brushed off and forgotten about, we will see the changes due to low fertility rates and higher average age of the global population. It affects everyone even if they don’t think it does, which is why it’s important to have a general understanding of the prospect of global aging.
