Status 1 Status 2 Status 3 1. Describe three statuses that you occupy in society. My first status would be that I am a parent. I am a father of 4 wonderful children, 2 boys, 1 girl, and one child that is non-binary. The second status would be that I am a Husband. I have been married to my wife for 20 years. My third status would be that I am a college Student. Attending school to acquire a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in sports management. 2. Identify whether each status is ascribed or achieved. This would be an achieved status since I was not born into this status, and it was achieved when my first child was born. This would be achieved since I was not born married and attained this status after my wedding. This would be an achieved status since I was not born a student but became one when I started school. 3. Explain what the role expectations are for each status. A parent’s expectations are to give their children medical care, housing, education, and food. Parents are also responsible to help develop children’s emotional and physical needs ( The Seven Roles of Parents’s Role in Adult Relationship | Cram , n.d.). The role expectations of a husband are to love his wife unconditionally. You should also make decisions together and respect your spouse’s opinions. Provide a loving home (Biswal, 2022). Students have an expectation to finish their schoolwork, get good grades and learn their subjects to the best of their ability. 4. Provide one example of role conflict. An example of role conflict would be when your child needs help with their homework and you have plans to do something with a friend. Role conflict as a husband would be needing to do something for work when you also have something planned with your wife. It could be your anniversary, but you have a deadline at work that needs your attention at the same time. Role conflict for students would be when you have a paper due and your friends or family want to do something with you. 5. Provide one example of role strain. An example of role strain would be when you have different children needing Role strain for a husband would be when you forget an anniversary or birthday.
