What is the medical and psychological history of these individuals?]  Key Player 1: Shavita – Early 30’s, currently unemployed and receiving state benefits, married to Ian, domestic violence victim, education, currently separated,  Key Player 2: Ian – Early 30’s, married to Shavita, originally from Uganda, alcohol addiction, several legal charges, currently on probation, domestic violence abuser, diagnosed with depression, currently separated, ordered to provide financial assistance to Shavita but cannot pay, currently violating terms of probation,  Key Player 3: Shavita’s father- Owns law firm where Ian was employed, retired, has shunned Ian recently due to his behavior,  Key Player 4: Child 1 – Ian and Shavitas’ child, currently does not have a relationship with their father, Ian, and lives with mother, Shavita.  Key Player 5: Child 2 – Ian and Shavitas’ child, currently does not have a relationship with their father, Ian, and lives with mother, Shavita.  Key Player 6: Shavita’s mother – helps Shavita, has shunned Ian due to his recent behavior,  Key Player 7: Victim Support Advocate – Has assisted Shavita,  Key Player 8: Social worker – male, investigating Shavita and Ian due to domestic violence report.  Key Player 9: Shavita’s brother – fired Ian from the law firm that their father owns. II. Case Background Circumstances [Instructions: In 2-3 paragraphs, thoroughly review the circumstances surrounding the case, including: What was the reason behind the situation or involvement of professional? Consider a 360 degree view of all possibilities.] What is impacting the case? Shavita and Ian share two children together. Ian has an ongoing alcohol addiction and Shavita and Ian often get into verbal altercations. Recently, Ian became violent with Shavita and hit her repeatedly in front of their two children. Ian left afterwards, and Shavita pursued legal action against Ian. Ian is facing assault charges along with other non-related charges regarding driving under the influence of alcohol and striking a pedestrian with a vehicle. Ian has also been diagnosed by his PC with severe depression. Ian is currently on probation and must provide community service as well as treatment for his alcohol addiction. Ian must also provide financial support for Shavita and their children. Ian recently lost his job and has been living off state benefits but has been unable to provide financial assistance to Shavita and their children. Ian has also not been showing up for probation visits and community service, violating the terms of his probation. Ian seems to lack support and has experienced some major life changes recently. Shavita is struggle to make ends meet and does not want anything to do with Ian. Shavita has a supportive family who supports Shavita’s decision to stay away from Ian. Shavita is being investigated by the Department of Social Services due to the recent domestic violence police report. A victim support advocate has also been assisting Shavita and helping her overcome some challenges. Shavita is feelings overwhelmed with bills and her mortgage and feels as though she don’t know how she will continue. III. Environmental, Familial, Social Case Circumstances

[Instructions: In 2-3 paragraphs, thoroughly review all three elements (environmental, familial, social) and the following: How are any or all of these contributing (positive or negative?)] Environmental Circumstances (positive and negative) Environmental circumstances surrounding this case include Ian’s environment likely contributing to his alcohol addiction and depression, such as friends who drink, attending bars, etc. Shavita’s environmental circumstances are also negative, focusing on her housing and what rights she has as well as paying her mortgage. The children are also in a negative environment with all the stress that their parents are experiencing. Familial Circumstances (positive and negative) Shavita has positive familial circumstances and seems to have a supportive family who is willing to help her. Ian seems to lack family support and is shunned for having contact with his in-laws. Shavita and Ian’s family, including their children, are currently negative as they are separated, and the children are enduring this stress. The children are also not having any current contact with their father, which is new for them and can be hard on children. Social Circumstances (positive and negative) Shavita seems to be reaching out for support and making friends at the same time. Little is known about Shavita’s social circle at this time. Ian seems to lack support, however, he was attending AA meetings, where he could build social support. At this time, Ian is not attending these meetings or seeking further help. IV. Legal Implications [Instructions: Research any legal implications of this case. In 1-2 paragraphs, indicate what legal implications are involved or explain why no implications are considered. If implications should be considered, cite your source. Ex. Are minors involved?] There are several legal implications involved in this case. The Department of Social Services is currently involved due to domestic violence, so Shavita and Ian could be at risk of having the kids placed out of their home legally. Another legal implication is Ian still has his legal parental rights and so does Shavita, so they must come to an agreement in court or file for sole custody. A major legal implication with Ian is his current pending charges. Ian currently has several charges and is violating his probation, which could result in jail time. Ian is also involved with the Department of Social Services, which could turn into a legal implication as well. Ian must focus on complying with his probation and meeting all requirements to ensure that he can avoid jail time. V. Community-Based Resources [Instructions: In a paragraph or so each, indicate 2 resources in your community of choice which would assist the client(s) in this case analysis. Indicate the name of the resource, what they do, and indicate where you accessed this information (ex. provide website)] Community Based Resource 1: Jodi Province Counseling  Website of Resource: https://www.jodiprovincecs.com/  Connection to Case: o I would refer either/both Shavita and Ian to Jodi Province Counseling. Ian could benefit from this to assist with his depression and relieve some of the stress regarding his current situation. Ian needs to reach out for assistance and Jodi Province offers different types of therapy for different situations. I would refer Shavita to Jodi Province Counseling to assist her with the trauma this situation has caused for her. Shavita could suffer long term mentally from this traumatic event, and therapy could help her accept her trauma and learn to function healthily. I would also advise that Ian and Shavita’s children seek therapy services as well to help deal with this major change in their life and their traumatic experiences.
