Needs Assessment Master of Social Work, Walden University SOCW 6311: Social Work Practice Research II Dr. Smorra December 19, 2023
Description of the Program The suggested program is a thorough, evidence-based parenting intervention designed for families involved in the child welfare system. The goal of this program is to decrease the possibility of families re-entering the child welfare system by addressing the underlying causes of abuse and neglect and encouraging healthy parenting techniques. Criteria for Inclusion Families who have been involved in the child welfare agency due to past abuse or neglect are the target audience for this program. Families with children who are at risk for child abuse or neglect or who are currently experiencing it will meet the inclusion criteria. There will be a priority placed on cases with the potential for improvement and rehabilitation. Families where substance addiction, mental health disorders, or a lack of parenting skills are the root causes of maltreatment and can be addressed through intervention, may fall under this category. According to their research, concentrating on families with observable risk factors both lowers the chance that abuse would return and raises the possibility that interventions will be successful (Shlonsky & Wagner, 2018). Justification for the Proposed Program The suggested program is justified by the need for a focused, successful intervention to end abuse and neglect in families. According to Dudley 2020, social work assessment is essential
