ANECDOTAL RECORDING ANECDOTAL RECORDING : Record child(ren’s) first name(s) and age. Describe only what you OBSERVE , not what you THINK about the child’s language or behavior. Remember to include the beginning, the middle and the end of the situation. 1. Physical Development Secondary domain: Social Development Observation/Date: 03/14/20 Emery ran up to the stairs at her aunt’s house. She looked back at us to see if we were right behind her or not. She started to laugh and scream as we were taking too long to get to her. As we approached the stairs, she waited till we were up them before she walked up them to meet us at the door. Once she reached the front door, she knocked on the door to go inside. Comments: Emery was demonstrating gross motor skills as she was able to walk up the stairs on her own. She has the physical strength to get herself up the stairs, the balance to walk on her own up the stairs and the coordination. 2. Social Development Secondary domain: Language Development Observation/Date: 3/14/20 Emery and her aunt were watching Netflix and as the movie ended, her aunt asked her to go and point at the screen on which movie she would like to watch next. Emery walked up to the tv and pointed at “Moana” for their next movie. As the movie started to play, Emery walked back to the couch to sit next to her aunt to watch the movie. Comments: She is aware of the things being told to her and being able to make choices on the movie she wanted to watch next.
3. Emotional Development Secondary domain: Physical Development Observation/Date: 3/14/20 Emery was given a cream cheese Danish. Right away, Emery started to scream and wave her hands around and saying “No” to express to us that she does not like her hands being sticky. We handed her a baby wipe so she could wash her hands. Afterwards, Emery was fine and clapped her hands. Comments: Emery demonstrated emotion when her hands were sticky by letting us no, she didn’t like her hands being sticky or dirty. She showed gross motor skills by waving her hands around and then clapping. 4. Creativity Secondary domain: Physical Development Observation/Date: 3/14/20 Emery picked up the box of color pencils that were sitting on the table. She walked over to her aunt, handed her the box. Her aunt asked her if she wanted to color and she said “Yes”. Her aunt told her to sit down on the floor, handed her a notebook and the colored pencils and Emery began to scribble in the notebook. Comments: Emery demonstrated physical development and fine motor skills by being able to pick up the box of color pencils, walking to her aunt, handing her the box of color pencils, sitting down and being able to hold the color pencil in her hands and color.
