Wiseman Check the Illustrations Morris Goes to School is a book about a male moose who goes and demands to buy gumdrops and the man at the store tells him the gumdrops are one cent each and he needs so Morris buys a gumdrop and then proceeds to say he wants to go to school. That is when he decides to go to school and learn how to count and learn his letters. As the children were learning their ABCs, Morris blurts out that he does not like “bees” and went to hide under the desk, Ms. Fine said no it is the letter B. where the girl kicked him out and the teacher made a correction where the boy’s sign was at it also writes boys/moose. This can be labeled as stereotyping. Check the Story Line and the Relationships Between People Morris goes to school portrays that Morris the moose buys gum drops and wants to go to school. However, it portrays that kids laugh and pick on Morris because he misinterprets the letters in the alphabet and shows him to go to the girl’s restroom. The biased thing that I could recognize is that Morris was demanding to go to school and kids tended to bully Morris because he went into the girl’s restroom and misinterpreted the alphabet. Also, kids mocked Morris when they played make-believe. Look at Messages About Different Lifestyles The lifestyle that Morris lives in is when he is poor and hides his pennies in the tree and when he demands gumballs from the candy shop. The man at the candy shop insists that the gumballs are one cent and so Morris gives the man 2 pennies even though Morris has 6 pennies.
