2 Map the client’s crisis using the five stages of the crisis. According to Turner (2017), crisis theory involves five key elements: hazardous event, vulnerable state, precipitating factor, state of active crisis, stage of reintegration, and crisis solution stage to restore the client's equilibrium. Paula's chronic medical and mental health diagnoses are considered situational crises since they do not relate to developmental factors (Turner, 2017). Her vulnerable state has resulted in depression, shame, and low self-esteem for Paula. The precipitating factors in Paula's case are her inability to fulfill her motherly duties due to her mental and physical health issues, which has led to her active crisis characterized by non-compliance with her psychiatric and medical treatment plans. Her non-compliance further hinders her ability to fulfill her motherly responsibilities. Paula's reintegration process would involve her complying with her medical and psychiatric treatment plans to improve her overall wellbeing. The better Paula adheres to her treatment plans, the more likely she is to be able to manage her conditions more effectively, leading to a reduction in her depression and an improvement in her self-esteem. Describe the client’s assets and resources   Paula appears to prioritize her role as a mother and truly cares for her children. She has a strong relationship with her two children and that serves as a motivating force. Additionally, Paula's son plays a supportive role for Paula and helps with his little sister when he can. Beyond her immediate family, Paula's ex-husband also provides support, despite not being her daughter's biological father. Furthermore, Paula is unable to work due to her disabilities and has been approved for Medicaid and Social Security Disability Insurance.
