Reqularly keeping updated about the child's routine, how their night/morning has been, preferences and any recent challenges or achievements all play an important role in supporting relationships with children and their families. A collaborative relationship with families ensures a smooth transition from home to care, to best support the child’s needs, while also reassuring the parents/caregivers that you are able to provide the support the child needs. 2. Warm welcome. Greet children and parents/caregivers by name, warmly and positively. This creates a welcoming and nurturing environment, that ensures both parents and children feel relaxed, secure and comfortable. Bullding a positive and reassuring drop-off routine can significantly ease the transition for both children and their families 3. Orientation sessions Provide families and children with several orientation sessions they can attend together to allow the child to explore and become familiar with the environment with the security of having their parent still there to allow them to feel comfortable and confident.
