LOOKING AHEAD 2 Creating a Literacy Environment Creating a literacy-rich environment it’s important in the classroom to improve students' learning, skills, and engagement. By exhibiting an awareness of the many frameworks and degrees of literacy development, educators may promote a culture of literacy. Teachers may be given the resources they require to help and meet the requirements of any student if they've developed a comprehension of how pupils build up their reading skills. This essay will go through my findings and analysis of the Early Literacy Lesson in the module. I'll also discuss how the elements of the Literacy Framework, Framework for Literacy Instruction, and Common Core State Standards are implemented in the classroom where I teach. This week's lesson required us to observe other colleagues during their literacy lesson to be able to consider and develop understanding of the elements of a successful literacy environment. The video also encourages viewers to analyze the many elements of the lesson's examples of the Framework for Literacy and the Literacy Framework. The Literacy Framework has five pillars essential for enhancing reading, writing, communication, and oral skills. The components are the following: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics Instruction, Fluency Instruction, Vocabulary Instruction, and Comprehension Instruction. Fluency is one component of the Literacy Framework that I noticed in the resources used in early literacy lessons. The teacher may be seen leading a read-aloud lesson in the video. The growth of fluency can be facilitated by read-aloud, as per Teaching Fluency (2014). Next, comprehending is an additional component of the Literacy Framework that was highlighted throughout the course. By giving a book preview and posing questions while the teacher read, the teacher in the video helped the students understand what it was saying. For instance, the instructor questioned the class, "Do these looks like our students?" (Laureate Education, 2014h). Making questions during the reading aloud provides students and teachers to expand their knowledge and understanding of the story, and to keep them focused through the reading. I was reflecting on my practice, instruction, and ways I may approach the
LOOKING AHEAD 3 Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as a result of my observations of the video lesson and my analysis of the Literacy Framework's elements. Read-aloud give me the opportunity to improve my students' understanding and fluency, identical to what teachers do in the media. I increase my understanding by going through a preview of the literature I'll be reading and by asking questions both during and after the reading. Read-aloud also give me the opportunity to improve my students' fluency. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Reading Foundation Skills emphasize fluency as a key standard. Students must be able to read accurately, at the proper rate, and with appropriate expression (Common Core State Standards Initiative, 2012b). Teachers can demonstrate good pronunciation and emotion by reading aloud to students. Also, I provide components of the Framework for Literacy Instruction in my teaching methods in addition to components of the Literacy Framework and Common Core State Standards. The Interactive Perspective with Texts is one area in which I have confidence. To make sure that my students' needs are taken into consideration and met when I teach a skill, I take into consideration the written material's detail, text leveled and organization when I create instructions. Another area where I feel accomplished is the Learners Interactive Perspective since I use a range of assessments (both informal and formal) to identify my students' areas of need and their areas of strength. I want to learn more about every facet of the critical perspective. Although I use statistics to identify my students' needs, I would like to develop challenging content that will encourage the students to reflect more deeply on ideas in order to improve their ability to understand and read. In conclusion, the Literacy Framework consists of the core reading abilities that students must demonstrate in order to be proficient readers, therefore it may be used as a tool while working together planning to construct literacy education. The framework can be used by educators to organize lessons and cater to the needs of each student. According to Point (2004) in
