What is your understanding of how anti-black racism increasing disparities for Black and racialized people? Please provide an example. The reality of anti-black racism is a lot more in Canadian than most Canadian think. Anti-black racism is one of the biggest issues across the country and as well as our own society. Most individuals face discrimination on daily basis especially people of colour. According to the research compiled shows the realities of the Black experience in Canada, “Black students are four times more likely to be expelled from a Toronto high school than White students” and “Black women are three times less likely to have a family doctor than non-racialized women in Ontario” ( DasGupta , Shandal , Shadd and Segal, 2020). This date shows the anti-black racism increasing disparities for Black and racialized people and the discrimination in our society. List two best practices or solutions that you learned from viewing this webinar? The webinar discusses many practices or solutions to the anti-black racism. There were many great discussions about the focused-on community practices to reduce discrimination and racism. The suggestion for the best practice from the webinar was the police's community supervision. This includes legislation to establish the direct access of these community organizations to the justice system. Moreover, another great suggestion was to protect the women against abuse. To end the abuse, there should be more shelters build for the women facing the abuse who have a safe place to live. To establish any of these solutions or practice the government has to play a big role to overcome discrimination. List one specific community resource and/or specific program that serves Black populations in your community or in the province of Ontario. Please do not repeat a resource already shared on the Discussion Board.
The Services for Black Youth has many resources and specific program that serves Black populations in your community. One of the programs that serve the black population is the Black Legal Action Centre (BLAC). This program is a not-for-profit organization that offers individual and systemic anti-Black racism through the provision of legal aid services. How might you show solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement as a future working in the social services field? Please share one example of action. If I ever get the privilege to show solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement as a future working in the social services, I will be more than happy to support the community. And encourage any new laws that serve to fix the injustice in the framework that exists. References: DasGupta , N. Shandal , V. Shadd , D. and Segal, A.
