Are you planning to pursue a quantitative or a qualitative methodology for your proposed research study? Why? What things did you learn in this class that strengthened your decision to use one methodology and not the other? Which of the GCU core research designs (introduced in a previous course) might best serve the needs of both your proposed research study and your personal and professional priorities? Explain. What things did you learn in this class that you used to advance, refine, and/or improve your dissertation research plan? Explain. Over the past eight weeks, I had the time to really reflect on my doctoral journey and truly understand the meaning of research and how I want to conduct my research for my proposed dissertation topic. In this course, we really got into the details of the two different types of research and the different data collection design techniques each one portrays, and how the data collected can bring forth a lot of information that a researcher can use (Pressman, 2022). I have learned the importance of literature review and using past research as a means of deciding which method and approach to use for the subject matter. At this time, I will be pursuing a qualitative phenomenological approach to my dissertation. The majority of the research articles reviewed have used qualitative interviews, systematic literature review and surveys to complete the intended study (Ferreira et al., 2021). The main thing I learned is to not reinvent the wheel. Relying on previous, peer-reviewed studies is a foundation to build upon and add to current knowledge. The research intent is to bring further awareness to both scholars and finance professionals of the ever-changing environment within the professional and the need to be mindful of the changing skillset necessary to remain valuable (Ferreira et al., 2021).
