Data Analysis and Application Template Dawn Halpin Capella University 1
Data Analysis and Application (DAA) Template Data Analysis Plan The variables provided are scores from Quiz 1, the GPA, and total and final grades. All four of these fall into the continuous, and this is because it is not a 1-5 ranking or category. A probable research question would be: are grades or test scores affected by the demographics of the students? Privitera (2018) stated that an alternative hypothesis is taking two or more variables and predicting a difference between them. An alternative hypothesis could be that there could be a relationship between different variables and then would have a direct relationship with other variables. A higher GPA would be a result of higher test scores and quizzes. Privitera (2018) states that a null hypothesis compares two variables that connect. Due to the GPA being its test, quiz one would have little to no effect on the GPA, which would be the null hypothesis. Testing Assumptions 2
Summarize whether or not the assumption is met The variable must be expected to do a correlation, so it will be examined to test the assumption (Privitera, 2018). The data shows that the kurtosis is -.688, and the GPA is at -.220 of skewness statistics. Meanwhile, a negative distribution is shown with the kurtosis. With the skewness of quiz 1 being -.851 and the kurtosis being .162, this shows the normal distribution. The final skewness was -.341, and the kurtosis was -.277, showing normal distribution. The total skewness is -.757, and the kurtosis is 1.146, which is not distributed. Normality was not met for the total but was met for Quiz 1, GPA, and the final. Results and Interpretation GPA, which is represented by r(105)=.152 P=.121. We must accept the null hypothesis because there was no relationship between the GPA and quiz according to the data. High magnitude correlation between the total and final r(105)=.875*.875=0.7656. We can reject the null hypothesis Based on a relationship between the final and the total. Statistical Conclusions Based on the results of Quiz 1, it could have been more challenging because so many students failed it. I took a closer look at quiz 1, final, GPA, and total variables to be able to determine that there was no effect or relationship with G{A and quiz one based on the descriptive statistics and the correlation. Due to the value being higher than 0.01, the GPA and final variables had a relationship with a medium effect. However, there was no effect on the total and final variables. 3
