mom is more affectionate and I depend on her for warmth and love when I am going through tough times. My father is more logical and I depend on him when I need practical advice.
I am a senior and Psychology major with a minor in neuroscience. I choose to major in Psychology because my favorite course while in high school was Advanced Placement Psychology. I remember seating in class and thinking to myself, I think I found what I wanted to do for the rest for my life. My primary area of interest within the field of psychology is neuropsychology. I love learning about people’s behavior specifically, brain function in relation to behavior. It is fascinating how something so small serves such an extremely important and vital role in our body and
After checking some of the websites about psychobabble and its meaning, I have learned that there is a lot of words used today by ordinary people, and Psychologist. Some Psychologist or Doctors will diagnose children with ADHD, but they have not tested these children properly to prove their diagnosis. Sometimes these children may be just bored or they need something to do that stimulates their interest in the subject that they are studying or they just have built-up energy and they may need more exercise in their daily routine, than other children.
Have you ever imagine what your going be doing in 10 years from now? Everyone has asked themselves that terrifying question before. I want to become a clinical psychologist because I have always been interested on how people think and react to different scenarios. Becoming a psychologist will help me get a better understanding on why people do the things they do. Also, within then next several years I will be in a internship at a hospital. There are several different types of psychologists but a clinical psychologist seems the most involved. There are different levels into authority in this field such as a associate's, bachelor's or master's degree. One of the key factor that deals with this field is the patients behavior. Most people think differently
My heart remains set on becoming a psychologist and I plan to accomplish that dream in the years to come. For now, I am taking an AP psychology class while I finish my senior year; I decided to get a taste for what the rest of my life will be like. Thankfully, this class has only cleared my vision for becoming a psychologist. I’ve learned that the term “psychology” itself is rather broad. There are many fields and subfields in psychology, not to mention there are psychiatrists and psychoanalysts as well. I’m not sure what field exactly I want to partake in, but I’m hoping that I will be able to make a choice when I attend CU Boulder in the
A hypothesis is an explanation that can be tested based on observation. A statistical hypothesis is testable explanation based on observation and different variables. A null hypothesis explains what the results of the experiment will be if the original hypothesis is wrong. An alternate hypothesis is the opposite result if there is or isn’t a null hypothesis. Semmelweis hypothesized that bacteria/virus filled extremities resulted in higher death rates.

Psychological factors can be related to many different problems, one problem that had personally affected me was the grades I got my freshman year of college. I started my college career struggling a little bit and often wondered how I could raise my grades and improve my GPA until I was satisfied with the grades I would get. Coming to college I was finally on my own with no one to wake me up, make me do homework, or go to class. These all led to my GPA not being exactly where I wanted it to be along with a number of psychological factors that have all been introduced throughout lecture and the readings. The four different chapters I can relate this problem most too would have to be those on stress, personality,
I’ve had a few experiences that relate to what I’ve learned in psychology this semester but the one topic that sticks out the most would be about one of my cousins. Diana, who is the middle child, ended up growing up with my family for a couple of years after her parents divorced when she was 10 years old. When she was younger, my aunt would take her frustrations out on Diana, her brother and sister verbally and physically. My cousin would tell me that her mom would beat her and also blame situations on her, mentally affecting her. Her Father would drink in excess and ended up turning into an alcoholic, which made it so she had no parent to turn to. My cousin started to also drink and cut herself as a way to deal with the situation she
Part I: I would be interested in certain types of Experimental psychology because of the possibility of creating new ways to do things. I have always imagined that a job where learning and advancing ways of learning would be of interest. Modern humans do not still process mentally the same way as humans from a thousand years ago, and this attests to new possibilities for tomorrow. To help create a new mental hierarchy, a way for people to process stress, or accomplish new heights sounds like a rewarding investment.
The different perspectives of psychology that allow us to create a complete picture have different approaches toward explaining behaviors. A Biological psychologist may attempt to explain aggressive behavior by explaining the neural pathways involved in transferring neurotransmitters that cause anger. According to Biological Psychology the brain is full of neurons that transfer the information around our brains; this allows humans to influence those by tampering with the genes that effect neuron transmission, or heredity temperament.

Nothing is like putting people in awkward situations for fun right? I should have had some one videotaping this so I could become famous. It would start off as a television show (maybe on MTV) and then into three movie sequels and even one can be in 3D. I am an idea man what can I say. Alright to the real stuff. The point of my Psychology Experiment was to putting me in an awkward situation and make people wondering what is the giant over there doing. What I did was go into a grocery store walking backwards. I entered the store backwards and walked down a couple of isles backwards to see what would happen. I got most people would just stare at me and wouldn’t say anything. (Can’t blame them, who wants to even say a word
My intended major is Neuroscience/Biopsychology. The way the brain works is something that has fascinated me from a very young age. I have always been intrigued with why our brain makes us do certain things and also, how certain chemicals that are released in our brains end up affecting us in a certain way. The day that I found out that one of my closest family members was diagnosed with depression was the day that my fascination grew even more. From that day on I became intrigued with how someone can go from being happy one moment to being unhappy the next.
James was referred to the counselling service for chronic low mood in terms of demonstrating depressed mood, worthless and hopeless feeling, and marked diminished interests or pleasure in university activities and social relationship activities. Based on his background information, it seems that James’ early life experiences and his developed core beliefs of self, world and future have huge impacts on his chronic low mood symptoms.
In this fast paced world we live in it is often hard to find the time to ask ourselves, “Who am I?” To even begin to scratch the surface of this question one must first understand the brain and how experiences shape who we are. These events can either be tragic, uplifting, or redefining. Psychology states that these experiences can affect the outcome of a person's personality (Wood, et. al., 2014). Personality is a multifaceted array of idiosyncrasies that help us understand a person’s behaviors, identity, and characteristics. Inside my mind is a vault filled with nineteen years worth of memories and learned behaviors that have impacted me in some way. In order to gain a better understanding of who I am I must delve deep into my mind and analyze the core components of my personality.
