I am an altar server and would like to be considered for the captain position. I have been serving for 5 years and I love it. My current parish involvement includes altar serving, greeting, FLOCK, and I attended religious education from kindergarten through 8th grade. My commitment to altar serving gets stronger every day because altar serving really engages me in the mass and my reason for being there. As a person attending, I don't really pay attention, I get bored, and I'll dismiss what the priest says. But, as an altar server, I listen to the readings and the homily and take in what is being said. Altar serving also allows me to be closer to God and it makes me feel like I am a true apostle of Jesus Christ because its not just a label, I'm actually acting on it. Being able to serve for God is a small but meaningful way to commit to the Church. People, including me, get caught up in the world around us. Sports, technology, social media, and even school sometimes closes me off from …show more content…
I play soccer competitively, and as a team we need to communicate and listen to each other. I was nominated to be a captain on my soccer team because when people are slacking, I can pick up the work and lead the team. I can transfer these skills to the captain program. I am very responsible as well, I seldom have late homework for school because I keep my stuff organized. I have shown leadership in the past because there have been a few times where captains haven't showed up and there were 2 new altar servers who had never served before. I took charge and guided them and helped the new servers out with what they were supposed to do. I am also very kind and understanding. I remember when I first started to altar serve, I was really scared and nervous because I didn't want to mess anything up. So if I am a captain, I will remember to take it easy on the servers and recognize that they need a little time to figure things
In this organization I can contribute by showing my full potential I’m a very hardworking and determined person, I will help by being focused and assertive with everything I do. I have learned a lot from being the co-captain of the jv cheerleading team last winter and also being the captain for the jv cheerleading team this season, I have learned that communication is the key to all success and that if you don’t communicate things will become more difficult for you and your peers around you. Another thing I’ve learned is to adapt to change quickly and that any change that you or others make can be for tthe greater good of you and them, during last season of me being co-captain i learned to persevere through anything that i find hard and I
In 6th grade, I was chosen to participate in a leadership program at Richard Hull Middle School. At this program, I worked with girls who possessed similar leadership qualities, and I learned more about what it is to be a good leader. This leadership position taught me what makes a good leader. For my three years in high school, I dreamed to be in NHS. This is not only a role, but also a responsibility. This past year, I was selected as one of four board members of the Youth Church Committee. I was placed in charge of organizing quiz meet, dance, and banquet programs in which it would occur at various times throughout the
I was part of the Air Cadets, a program to help the youth with leadership and teamwork skills, I showed my leadership skills by raising money for my squadron. Air Cadets allowed me to take part in my own community. I am active in many sports such as; golf, tennis, table tennis, soccer. I also enjoy playing chess with my brother and father and I enjoy skiing and skating during the winter time. At school, I try to enjoy it instead of seeing it as a stressful job, I make sure that even if I have stress, I can deal with it calmly and effectively. I easily understand concepts and learn new things quickly which will benefit me if I miss a month of school for this program. I usually do my assignments beforehand so that I have time to add any final touches and have it edited by my peers and teachers. I show my leadership in many different ways. I take the initiative of helping teachers, my fellow students and my parents. I help
Soccer has helped me the most with leadership; through the Kicks program as I mentioned earlier and being alternative captains in my spring leagues and this year in varsity soccer for the school. With Kicks I was in charge of many children who looked up to me as a role model, I had to teach them many footskills and other techniques. In my spring league of soccer I was one of the four captains in that league and through this leadership position I tried to be a positive and very upbeat person who encouraged her teammates. Finally for this years varsity soccer team I was given captain after one of our girls got hurt. Taking over this position put a lot of pressure on me that I was able to overcome; as I felt weird because I was not originally voted captain and didn’t think that my team would be happy. After a few games I realized that I had become comfortable with the new position and it made me work harder. As a leader I realized that my fellow team members had started to try harder if I tried harder and it meant so much to me. All of these things have helped me strongly understand leadership and why it is so important.
Leadership is an important character trait of National Honor Society. Last summer I had the opportunity to lead a team during the off season. At the end of the regular season, there were no captains elected. Captains are in charge of organizing events and practices when the coaches are not allowed to communicate with the team. I took on the responsibility of organizing activities. I communicated with other players and got their input for the activities. I had to reach out to incoming freshman by organizing a group message as well as emailing parents. I also made sure to keep our coach updated on how everything was going.
This has kept me out of many of the elected leadership positions in our school. However, there are many other ways that I exemplify my role as a leader. One of these ways is by being a part of athletics. I have always felt like a leader in this environment, as I have always exceeded at sports. As an underclassman, I would be the one who helped out with cleaning up, and pushed my teammates to get better. Being apart of these smaller groups allows me to feel more comfortable when leading others. I also lead the team to getting better by helping to set up practices when the coaches were not allowed to coach in the off season. This made me a better leader in everyday life as I am now a more active leader. I lead in group projects, telling people what needs to be done and when. I make sure people are on track, and do not act out. Despite not being a leader to the many, I have still been able to make a big difference by being a leader in my everyday life as an athlete and a
I have demonstrated my leadership in both Student-to-Student and my track and cross-country teams. In eighth grade, I was one of the captains of my track team. I would help lead stretches, warm-ups, and sometimes the workout. I was not a captain my freshman year, but I exhibited leadership skills and influenced my teammates to do their best. Being a new student to RHS, I was not a captain in cross-country either, but, again, I proved my ability to be a leader through my actions and motivating those around me.
I think that if you were to ask my close friends or family, they would say that I am a natural leader and hardworking. As the captain of my lacrosse team, I am a leader on the field. In this position even though I strive to be the best I can, I find it more rewarding to watch my team succeed and improve above myself. I’m very passionate about motivating my team mates to be better and not just bossing them around. You can also find me as a leader of the Student Council at my school. Here I have been in charge of and organized countless events like the CB East’s annual Homecoming. This example also goes to show how hard working I am. I take these school events very seriously and I want every student to have a great time; I stay after school for
To begin, I exhibit qualities of a great leader. Firstly, at my Saturday morning bowling league, I am positioned as the anchor, which means I am expected to lead my team to victory.. Secondly, I lead by being a good example to my peers, and I am a positive role model. Lastly, when my friends have problems they come to me and I lead them to a positive solution. This is being a good leader.
To be a cheer captain, there are many responsibilities and priorities. To be a captain you have to be strong and not afraid to try new things. You need to have a great positive attitude the whole time and not let the drama start on the team. You have to make sure your team is ready for games and practices and make sure everyone knows what they are doing and if not to take it slowly until they get it. Being a captain is a lot of responsibilities but it’s an amazing opportunity. I think I am fit to be the captain, because I can bring all these priorities or tasks in with me. I know not to let my feelings drag the team down and I know that you always have to keep a smile on your face.
During my junior year of high school, I was captain of the varsity reserve volleyball team, and I was captain of the soccer team. As a senior, I have received the position of being a captain for the basketball team, and I hope to fulfill my spot as a captain
One of my goals is to be a leader in a business organization. Being the captain of the swim team sets a concrete foundation of what being a leader is like in a business organization. As the captain I have to make sure everyone is accounted for, keep morale high, talk about issues about an individual on the swim team, and fix said problem. This shows responsibility, character, and sympathy. These are core values that all leaders must have to be successful. Without them, they will
I started out as a student-athlete in which I depicted great leadership skills and positive role model qualities such as diligence, enthusiasm, and passion for the sport. Hence, after my first year of college, I was named the team captain. I worked closely with the coaches, helped to resolve team conflicts, established the tone for practice, and modeled responsibility, decision-making, and a strong work ethic. I also promoted a positive attitude and team interactions, and encouraged and supported all of my teammates. Throughout my experience as team captain, I showed mental toughness by remaining confident and focus, and respond to individual and team mistakes in an appropriate manner.
Setting a working altar to work your mojo can be a permanent altar for your spirits or a temporary altar in which you work the spell and clean up and put away the items after the spell is complete. Altars can be set up on the floor, which is common in many traditions such as setting a Pooja Altar, Buddahist Altar, African Conjure Rites, and Ceremonies for Haitian Voodoo Loas, and others. Other altars are set up on small tables or elaborate tall shrines. Altars are ritually cleansed with holy water, Florida water, or other spiritual waters prepared especially for cleaning the ritual space. Altar clothes are laid out to define the altar, white is the common color for all types of altar coverings, but they can come in colors and patterns according
This year in basketball, I was selected to be one of our two team captains for every game. The coach selected me because of the way I lead my teammates. I keep myself out of trouble and try to be kind to all of the people in the school. You never know who may be watching and looking
