The Marketing process is made up of simple concepts that involve lots of research on the part of the marketer. The process begins with understanding the consumer, without knowing what consumers need or want, it would be extremely hard for firms to both develop and sell a product. Knowing that consumers want more green products due to growing environmental concerns is a very important detail. Needs and wants are what fuel consumer purchases and marketers must perform research in order to best serve their customers. Through this research, marketers are led to the next step of the process and can now develop a customer driven marketing strategy. Here, the firm must decide how it will differentiate its product from others on the market.
Best Buy: The salesperson created a good rapport with me and successful in creating a positive impression. He asked me about my profession and my studies. We got along well and he recommended a camera best for my use keeping my budget in mind. He had good knowledge about the products as he was able to compare different brands of cameras i.e. Samsung, Nikon and Canon. Based on my needs he recommended me to buy a Sony camera. Although the camera was little over my budget, it had additional features like Bluetooth, automatic operation and small sensor etc. He had answered my queries very confidently. During the entire conversation, he maintained good eye contact, posture, personal space and most importantly “a smile”.

However, more and more people began the transition over to smart phones. By my sophomore year, almost everyone had chosen his or her side, IPhone or Samsung. After noticing this shift in interest, I started asking, or begging, my parents for a Samsung Galaxy just like what my best friend at the time had gotten for her birthday not too long before. After months of “asking,” it was Christmas time and I had pretty much given up all hope for the new device and was feeling so content with my Samsung Intensity II slider phone that I kind of even forgot about my obsession with the new, trendy phones. This is why I was taken so of guard when my fingers raced under the folds of the festive wrapping paper to have my eyes rest on a starch-white box with raised, black letters that read “Samsung Galaxy S4” in a neatly bonded, yet delicate font. Inside was a flat, black screen, much larger than what I was used to at the time, surrounded by a deep blue outline. The simple and unexpected moments like this make you eager for what’s to come. In this case, what was to come was a completely new way of communication that a whole generation got to discover
