“ELLEN MOORE (A): LIVING AND WORKING IN KOREA” At first glance it looked like that the main problem about this case would be Korean’s team and their lack of qualification and expertize in this System Implementation (SI) project, therefore without taking drastic measures and improvements they are not going to be able finish it in time. But the more I read, the more I understood that lack of experience is just one small piece of problem set they had there. They had strong Cultural differences between Asia and Western thinking, in way of acting, communication differences, language barrier, used working hierarchy and most importantly different standards and values. As well as missing staring real information about managers and their teams, …show more content…
* North Americans understanding for the role of a consultant differed vastly from Koreans. Communication with client team was blocked by cultural differences like team members needed to make appointments for seeing each other (time consuming). Impossible communication with customers in order to better understanding how system would better integrate with the customer’s requirements. Therefore one significant aspect was missing of implementation process, meaning clients’ customer needs which lead to bigger problems, such as Jacks presentation about marketing research and that lead to Andrew’s high tone conversation with Mr. Cho. That was the moment when everyone understood that team is not capable of working in those conditions so they looked for someone to blame. * Korean consultants lack of expertise in systems implementation. It means, that if planning was for 8 professionals then time for finishing the project was calculated out of this information, however if you need to train 5 people out of 8 then it take a lot more time than expected. Measures that should be done to get the project back on schedule could be: * Discussion with Jack and Ellen to smooth their relationships, because two co-leaders can’t work efficiently if they don’t communicate or respect each other, so Andrew should talk to them.
Testimony this Thursday morning began with a New York State Police Investigator who is part of the computer crimes unit. She said her analysis of Michael Beard's phone is that there was quiet a bit of deleting and a lot of powering off, including more than 100 deleted calls.
In her article “Gendered Racial Violence and Spatialized Justice,” Sherene H. Razack explores the murder of Pamela George; the way that her murderers’ sentences were lessened because of a variety of factors pertaining to Ms. George’s life; and the fact that the murderers were young, white, and middle-class men.
On July 29, 1984 Jennifer Thompson, a white woman was brutally raped by a black male with a knife to her throat. The black male broke into her apartment while she was asleep. Jennifer Thompson woke up to the stranger when he had begun to attack her. When she first saw her attacker, she offered to give him her car and money, but he declined that’s when she realized he wasn’t there to rob her but to rape her. During the time Jennifer Thompson was being raped, she tried to remember the characteristics of the black male so that later she could identify him to the police. Jennifer Thompson was able to escape out of the back the door of her apartment and she ran to her neighbors home which they called the police. That same night the black male raped
Chung has been operating under what he feels are the established norms for his culture. Ted's relationship with the Taiwanese client exhibits the Chinese management principles of paternalism, particularism, and insecurity. The patron-client relationship is based in a sense of mutual obligation, where the client is expected to defer to Ted's expertise and Ted is expected to trade the account responsibly. (Moorhouse, 2005) Ted also used social networking to establish himself in the community which is expected in the Chinese culture. By attending events Ted increases his “visibility and prestige” which contributes to the face that is needed to be considered a trustworthy business partner
Leary isolated Chung from the beginning by having him solely manage the Taiwanese market. Instead, Leary should have involved other employees to work on a team with Chung to help develop new business with the Taiwanese market. By building team collaboration, Leary would have helped Chung assimilate into the organization’s culture and feel a part of the team.
There were several mistakes made by Maria Chen in the first 6 weeks of the project starting with her never starting a good relationship with the client and its workers. Instead Chen focused on her time on a complex technical analysis spreadsheet of ideas she thought she could implement, but failed due to lack of knowledge on SKS. This spreadsheet took about 3 weeks for her to complete and was ultimately useless and filled with holes thus wasting ¼ of the project
I would go for a targeted communication strategy to each of the different stakeholders. The first one will be to Jessica’s parents to re-explain the true nature of these unfortunate circumstances. I would explain to them the entire process and where we went wrong and apologize. I would also convey that the unfortunate circumstances were not specifically targeted at them but it was a bad lapse in the entire process and while we can help at this particular time with your daughter, we will reevaluate the entire process to ensure that nothing like that ever happens again. I would also inform them that from now on, to reflect the changing demographics in the area the hospital covers, the hospital will be offering language classes to all their staff to better communicate with people from different social and cultural
And finally, there is the issue of staff mismanagement. The supervisor, Keith Frazier, is only checking in with this department one to two times per week. Mr. Frazier is aware that Pat is making international phone calls. He is also aware that Pauline found a way for Pat to make these calls from the building’s elevator once he had the phone system modified to only allow internal calls. Mr. Frazier has also been fielding complaints from the accountants about not receiving their tax schedules in a timely fashion. However, he has failed to confront either of these issues. This lack of management can be attributed to the following:
Karen Johnston is a director of a health planning agency which employs approximately 18 staff members and also serves on the Community Advisory Board (CAB). This program typically incorporates two student interns from her health planning agency. The CAB is a vital program as it advises the program faculty on issues that concern curriculum, internships, job placements, and scholarships.
There are some strengths and weaknesses that have been made clear about the project plan in the case study, “Beijing EAPS Consulting, Inc.” in the Custom Book, (2011). These
Ellen and Jack were both initially appointed as the co-manager to the SI project, however, from the organizational structure perspective, the power was not equally distributed between the two participants: Jack clearly had much more commanding authority than Ellen. With Andrew involved in a distance manner and
For Ms. Myers, being successful in America, did not translate to being successful in South Korea. Although she was an executive, she had many barriers that hindered her from adequately helping the company in the ways that she wanted.

Due to the economic uncertainty in the period, the set up time was exceptionally long. Also, Fred and his team had not been able to successfully adjust to their Mexican counterparts. They had not treated the local and national agencies with respect and that affected the business component of the whole structure. This is an implicit problem has been identified as it occurs in more than one scenario.
The project team must comply with their project managers (and the timeline) or else there can be delays leading to the issues mentioned above.
