The following is a case study of the Denver’s Sherriff department and the decision by numerous Sherriffs to find another union representative, particular the Teamsters union. Their current union, which has represented the Denver Sherriff department since 1993, is the Financial Order Police, or FOP. According to the case, the Teamsters persuaded over 100 of the Sherriffs to join. However, they would need the vote of over half of the 700 Sherriffs. Is it a good idea for one union to challenge another to represent these deputies? I believe so. It is good practice, both personally and professionally to consider your options. Eventually, every organization faces staffing challenges. However, the difference lies in the manner a company reacts to staffing issues. Staffing issues can be internal, external, or both. In addition, the intensity levels of the issues may vary from company to company. Recently, the Virginia State Police suffered from several staffing issues. This paper will address the specific staffing concerns with the Virginia Police Department, the ineffectiveness of the situation illustrated in the article, and ways the police department could have done differently or prepared itself better.

At 1558 hours on July 4, 2016, Hampton County Sheriff’s Office, responded to 1540 Hickory Hill road, in the county of Hampton, in regards to an break-in. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Alfred Mays, who stated he was contacted by the home owner, Terri Beach, who stated someone possibly broke into her residence.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida is the tenth largest suburban agency in the country. The sheriff’s Office annual budget estimated to be 370 million. The current chief law enforcement in charge is Sheriff David Gee, who elected into office in 2004. After he had been elected to his position, subsequently, in “2007, he was awarded “Sheriff of the Year” by the National Crisis Intervention Team. The struggles of the City of San Bernardino, California are well documented; one of the highest crime rates in the state and the country, extensive acres of urban blight, a median household income under forty-thousand, which has left residents living in poverty, a cash insolvency as a result of mismanagement, which has left the City in chapter nine bankruptcy for three and a half years, and a political climate distorted from lack of experience, and conflicting ideologies and agendas. Also well documented is the strained relationship of between the City and the Unions that represent its employees. Most notably the firefighter’s union, which has sued the City on numerous occasions over pension, overtime and overall work conditions. As part of the City’s plan to exit bankruptcy the firefighters will be annexed into San Bernardino county fire. This moves makes it that much more important for the City and the union to resolve its differences for the good of the firefighters.
On January 5th, 2017, the Muskogee Police Department began an investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography, by the suspect, Zackery Perry (“Perry”)(MPD Case #2017-557). Through the investigation and the analysis of electronic evidence that Perry possessed and was collected during a search warrant of his residence, a local juvenile victim was identified as Brooklyn Skelton (“Brooklyn”)(age 7).
I chose to apply to the Texas State troopers because of its high level of professionalism, and because I personally believe it is one of the best agencies to work for.
The Houston Police Department has is one of the best known police departments in the state of Texas. It was first formed in 1841 by the first City Marshal. On Monday, May 5, 2015, I, Officer B. McMillon, #135, of the Mansfield ISD Police Department was on assignment at Legacy High School located at 1263 N. Main in Mansfield, Texas 76063. I was contacted by Waldrep, Dawn W/F, D.O.B. 12/22/1999 who stated; an unknown person(s) had taken $86.00 from her backpack during 4th block Algebra class without her consent.
On July 6, 2016 at 1600 hours, I, Officer Anzaldua #B2 was dispatched to the Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy, located at 12625 Wetmore Road, Suite 436, in response to damaged property and obscene material within public view. Upon arrival time at 1604, I, Officer Anzaldua made contact with Robledo, Jose, M., the facilitator/instructor at the Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy. At 1210 hours, Robledo showed a tour of the building to the Converse Police Department. Robledo stated while preparing activities, he came inside the apartment at approximately 1520 and stated that cadets had set up sexual acts in the bedroom of the apartment. I did my forty-hour patrol practicum the Perry County Sheriff’s Department. I started on February Fourth, 2016 and went ever following Friday until April First of 2016. I learned a lot of useful things while riding with the Deputy. I learned some of the codes that Perry county uses. I learned the Youth Correction center and even went to one in Lancaster. I have got to see a Domestic Violence happen and how the Sheriffs, State Trooper, and Town Officers deal with them. There was so much to like about riding with the Sheriff’s department.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office has been in the news lately for some serious accusations. They have engaged in unethical and criminal behavior throughout the years and the information about this department is coming to the forefront for the world to see. On April 2, 2015 during a sting operation of an undercover drug and gun buy, the suspect known as Eric Harris was shot by Robert Bates 73- year old volunteer reserve deputy with Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect Eric was on PCP at the time and he took off running. Bates says he mistakenly pulled his gun instead of his taser during the pursuit. The employee Davey Jones that works as a midnight dispatcher for the Ottawa county Sheriff Department, has the right to see his personal file not more than twice a year. Mr. Jones can only see his personal file during normal business hours. Mr. Jones have to put a request in writing and give it to his employer. Then the employer and Mr. Jones has to set up an appropriate time that works with both of their schedule’s. Mr. Jones if he can’t work out a schedule he can ask his employer to mail him a copy of his files. Mr. Jones can get a copy of his file, but employer will charge a fee for him to receive a copy of his file.
